What a sad state of affairs that people cant go to work and earn an honest living cos of a group of theiving scumbags. The police and government need to do something drastic and fast to make an example of these shits before it really does escalate out of control and we have complete anarchy.
  • Country is F'cked. No laws to stop these now. Only going to get worse.

Watch Sky news. Some "race advisor" saying its all because black men die at the hands of the police" (white people of course never do!) but behind him the whole time he is talking bollox is a guy with a lighter sparking it up at the camera ?

Was thinking of starting a Ltd Company up and calling it "Vigilanties R Us" armed to the teath we will sit in ur shop/hse all night and any yoot/gangsta gets in gets chopped up and burned. We get £50 a head (or foot) and they a blue plaque on the outside of the shop that Red Wedge can march to to celebrate the death of another hero of their revalution. Id give it two days before we are all nicked and get 5 times the prison term that any looter gets.

Yeah I'm watching that too. Must say I agree with whitey there.

The rest of your post is absolutely horrific, though. Has no place on this forum.

How exactly will that help? Surely it's better for any planning they do to be done over a 'public' domain, if the police can manage to monitor football forums searching out hooligans I'm sure they can track these idiots discussing their plans on twitter.

Even if the police know, they dont seem to be able to do anything about it.

Exactly, so how will shutting twitter down help at all?

Atleast this way they have details and posts to follow up after the event.

Do all these people involved know each other then? Twitter would stop the communication. Sounds like one group of people talk of thrashing places, other yobs see it and think I'll have a bit of that.

I guess his point was to stop the initial organisation of the problem. Obviously it is to late to do such a thing now.
Anyway, twitter is not the only way for things to go viral.

Twitter isnt as dominant as its made out. Its preferred by celebs and co to other social networks, but something like facebook is an immediate alternative to tweeters.

It's nothing to do with Twitter. The crap on Twitter is just a bunch of wannabe bellends spreading rumours. It's being spread using Blackberry IM. Besides - much as all this is utterly reprehensible, even if it were technically possible to 'shut down' Twitter/RIM's IM client (it is, but it's very difficult) it would just spread to another medium. SMS for instance. What are you going to do then, shut down SMS messaging?

Twitter does not spread information, people do.

Just watching the BBC News channel, coverage.

Kids just walking around Hackney looting any shops they want whilst Riot Police stand there.

the footage on BBC News is horrible, watching youths kicking windows through and stealing chairs so they can smash other shops. Really awful to watch, and the police can't do much, having chairs, and stools thrown at them. People are stuck on buses in Hackney unsure whether to get off or stay on until the bus can move into a safer area.

It's not just blokes either, plenty of young women involved in the protests.
