  • Yep best performance by far, yes he won his duels but he was also heading it on for some dangerous runs from Carey and tanto and then Kelman which has been really rare from him. Worked his arse off right to the end too. Long may this continue, with Kelman back hopefully we don’t have to resort to the lumping route one stuff either
  • Just said it on the Post-Match thread, but great way to bounce back after that miss at Birmingham
Could really have effected his confidence, but as a target man that was one of his best ever displays for us

One game doesn’t suddenly make him amazing player but what he has done is shown he absolutely has the ability to have a place in this squad if he can find some consistency

Fantastic today. Won 13/17 aerial duels and the most duels of anyone on the pitch with 15. Proper target man performance
Not only that but many of his headers won were well directed too, almost a pre-injury performance today.

He really upped his game today, he ran the full length of the pitch to defend near the end showing good fitness and no lack of effort for the team, was great to see, keep that up miles and get some goals and you’ll be worth £20m 😂
  • I thought today’s performance from Miles was a lot, lot better.

Rather Than going into his shell after that miss last week, the best way to answer his critics, is put in a shift, he certainly did that 👏 👏

The amount of players that have developed under NJ is fantastic. Can’t remember a manager having this much impact on individuals.

He was so determined, a few of his moments of improvisation I loved

one in first half where I think he won header and it bounced straight back to him point blank and he headed it back into somebody’s path

second half somebody looped a cross in and it was too deep behind him and he stretched out a long leg with all his effort to hook it back from the byline into the box to keep it alive

Dont Think either came to anything but just loved the intelligence and effort to keep winning the ball, keep it alive, keep it in dangerous areas, perfect from a leading the line striker we’ll get plenty of goals out of that sort of work

and contrary to what some have said, I think he’ll end up scoring plenty himself too

Seem to remember that Mickey Apples had quite an impact on player's performances.

He was class yesterday didn't stop running, won soo many headers and his link up play/holding the ball is improving aswell best game I've seen of his for a long time.
  • Hard working and effective - hopefully the goals will follow. Does a lot of key defensive work.

Leaburn looks much more comfortable with a partner up top rather than leading the line on his own.

I agree, and with Kelman back and Leaburn improving it wouldn’t surprise me if we see a proper front two more often rather than TC in the hybrid role.

As we saw yesterday and against Birmingham, we can still have a more attacking player as one of the wing backs.

NJ: "He's a really great lad, he works hard, and he wants to do it."

I think the interview was cut off before Jones could say that Miles has an attitude problem and doesn't want to be here.

And how much did he smile during the game?

If Kelman is fit enough to start, Norwich defence is in for a tough afternoon against Miles and Kelman, followed by Tanto and Tyreece.

Some well deserved recognition for Miles who has dominated aerially against both Oxford and Portsmouth (until Shaughnessy came on).

I don’t think it was his best game but he still put himself about and his assist for the goal was a very good header back across the box

Got an assist and won the most duels of anyone on the pitch, beyond scoring there isn’t much more you can want of him

The game changed when Shaughnessy came on for them.

Miles won 14/26 aerial duels across the 90 mins but Shaughnessy won 8/11 after he was subbed on - meaning Miles was on 11/15 or similar prior to his introduction.

That many duels won plus the assist - on a night where goals scored by forwards were at a premium - results in him getting in team of the week.

He won some brilliant headers yesterday and battled hard and given the only service he gets it’s lumps at him we can’t really ask for much more, one great header flick on in the 2nd half to put Kelman half through on goal

I thought he has been better last few games. Sometimes he goes down too easily but he is not doing that anymore.

The Welling clogger has cost Leaburn lots of money.
