    As a perk of having a Blue Light Card, they do free tickets to events where you only pay the venue fees. Managed to get 2 tickets worth £160 to One OK Rock at The o2 next Wednesday for £8.50.

    The Vapors last night at 229 Great Portland st , really nice venue practically next door to the tube station , Bit of a disappointing night , the band had a new drummer and he played so loud you could just make out the vocals .    
    Also in support Class of 79 , Punk & New wave classics , Brilliant stuff .

    Saw Robert Forster last night at the Union Chapel. Seen him loads of times before (solo and as part of the Go-Betweens). He had a backing band last night, three young Swedish blokes, and he seemed to be rather overpowered by them. There was a good audience reaction, but there was something missing for me.  Seeing the Magnetic Fields at the same venue on Tuesday.

    Saw the Magnetic Fields, playing the first 35 songs of their 69 Love Songs LP, at the Union Chapel last night (they're playing the remaining 34 songs tonight but I'm not going to that). I love the band but they were disappointing. The sound quality was terrible and they lacked lustre. Probably tired after a lot of touring. And I'm not sure that I like this business of playing whole LPs, which there seems to be a lot of these days. I'd rather not know which song is coming next.

    Patti Smith was wonderful yet again on Monday at the Palladium.  50 years of Horses, the album that changed my life!  We even got to see Johnny Depp (in the hat) join for the encore of "People Have the Power".

    Finally getting to see Feeder on 24th in Cork.
    I should have seen them in the early 2000’s as they were due to perform at the Rugby League grand final (back in the day when the band used to do a good few songs pre match). But it was monsoon rain and they couldn’t play.
    I can’t fecking wait 🤩

    I saw Of Monsters and Men, which I would describe as a folk-rock band. They come from Iceland are a bit different, although some of their stuff is a bit samey. They were showcasing their new album which always makes a gig tougher, as the audience often await their old favourites. By no means a 9 or 10 out of 10, but a thoroughly enjoyable, slightly short set at Concorde 2, Brighton.

    I bought a ticket to see them at Brixton Academy a few years back (and yet I hadn't).
    I had this feeling as I was about to leave the house that I'd got their name wrong.
    A quick google and I had a ticket for Of Mice and Men by mistake (who I'd describe as thrash metal).
    I went regardless but didn't enjoy it.

    For those interested, I hugely recommend Dartford Folk Club. Very varied programme of events, not just ‘trad folk’.
    We meet every Tuesday evening at Dartford Working Mens Club. Membership is £15 per year, then just £8 each night… or you can pay £12 to go adhoc without being a member.
    The Working Mens Club typically have 10 real ale/craft beers available at £3.90 a pint. Also real ciders etc. 
    All round great value for money and great evening out to hear and support live music.
