and what was that with that ridiculous stat when the game was only about 20 min, showing that if Charlton lose the game today it would be our first back to back aways losses on a trot since......Sheepie1985 said:...considering Sky spent most of the pre-game chatting about Ipswich and how good they are, how they've won 3 in a row at home, how they're a strong team that are play off contenders etc.. then ended the game saying that "clearly Charlton are play off contenders", maybe it's time they gave us the respect we deserve and give us the same sort of attention finally!3 -
Result of the season so far, what a team!1

Don’t know where to start on that really. Had vibes of Black Sabbath at Highbury when 3-0 up and thinking we might get a draw because of that opening 15-20 when we were seriously under the cosh. The clock also seemed to be ticking v slowly. But as Leaburn and TC hit their stride (they play so well together) and Kayne turned back into a confident immovable force we just got better and better.Delighted for the travelling Addicks while also being madly jealous as I wasn’t there. Tried to sync up Tel and Browny to the Sky pictures but our dodgy rural WiFi signal kept buffering so gave up and suffered the Sky commentary. By the end they had us down as world beaters. Didn’t someone on pre-match thread predict 0-3 and everyone starts to take notice? Who was that?Just a word of caution (sorry, I can go a bit Oohaah at times): back in 2019 we had 21 points after 12 matches. We’d need to beat Hull to match that. Then it all went pear-shaped with Gallagher going, Covid, the 🐍 etc. So a long way to go yet.In the meantime let’s enjoy the ride whatever happens!15

Result of the season? I'm struggling to think of a better result since we were in the Premier LeagueSheedyCAFC said:Result of the season so far, what a team!3 -

It’s weird hearing the commentators talking about us as play off contenders. Feels very unnatural0

There are times when Charlton pay you back for all the rubbish we watch over the years, and that was one of them.39

Tonight only enhances that these players under the guidance and leadership of Jones can be whatever they want to be.
It’s a result that right now I feel quite confident that we’ll look back on and say that was it, that was the moment we went to a new level.
We’ve had an unbelievable 10 months, and I say 10 months because it’s exactly that to the date since we won 5-0 away at Northampton. 21st December 2024 - 21st October 2025. And it was that game and result last season which was the moment where we clicked and went on that run to win promotion. Many will point to the Crawley game, that was the lowest point, but this is the one where it came together.Tonight, this is the game where the squad will really, really believe everything Jones tells them. You can be whatever you want to be, just follow me and I’ll take you there.
To a man, they were genuinely outstanding. I am so proud.
After all the crap we’ve been through over the years, the turnaround this club has made has been phenomenal. We deserve this, we really do.61 -
My final word on tonight - I very much doubt that any manager looks forward to playing against us. They'll know that no team has more clean sheets than we have, that we are happy to give up possession and that there is every chance we will hit them on the counter.

Fantastic result, excited to see where we can go this season0

To think that on 3rd December 2024 we trudged out of The Valley dejected after losing to Crawley, and now, in October 2025, we’re 5th in the Championship having just battered Ipswich on their own patch. What a turnaround.17

This time two years ago we were 13th in League One and losing to Lincoln. One year ago our revival had petered out. We were losing faith in Nathan Jones and were on a downwards slide through to Christmas.Themightyath2 said:What a team.
We know how to defend and we work so hard when we don’t have the ball. We’re always in the game.
What a change from 10 months ago!
I am so sorry for the fans that passed away before 2025 and didn't get to enjoy this magnificent year.
Seems lunacy to think we could be relegated and only a little fanciful to think we could go up.4 -

Reece Shearsmith, Steve Pemberton, Bobby Davro cameo as a hostage, a good evening at the theatre in Woking.
It wasn't until I was on the train home that I suddenly remembered that Charlton were at Ipswich and the smile on my face when I saw that result was wider than any I managed during the show tonight!
Wow! Just wow!2 -
Didnt McKenna win manager of the month? For what? Beating Norwich?9

What did Hernandez say before the game?0

By the way, in these last 10 months that I’ve mentioned since that game at Northamptopn, our record in league format (including the play-offs) is won 26, drawn 8, lost 7.
Some going that.15 -

That was like watching 2 different games of football. 1st half we were not at the races, even though we maybe should have scored a couple of goals. Ipswich were running rings round us & for the first 20 mins we hardly got out of our half.
2nd half we played like we were the home side & again should have scored another couple more than we did. Coming forward we looked a different team & every attack looked dangerous.
This time the subs changed the game in our favour (unlike Sat) and Leaburn & TC linked up really well. Maybe we have found the right forward pairing....but maybe after 60 mins when defenders are tiring. Leaburn won every header & TC beat his man & cut inside with purpose. And who gives a shit if the ball was over the line or not. We've been on the end of a few dodgy decisions already this season and as they say, it all evens out over the season.
I'm not going to get carried away & still think 16th-19th is where we will finish off this season, but as Maggie once said.......
Just rejoice at that news.4 -

Amazing result and massive credit has to go the new ownership team at the club as well as Nathan Jones, his staff and the players.
The owners have got it spot on, unlike the Danish guitar merchant and the bungling Belgian, they have kept their own counsel and haven't gone out and made stupid statements.
Instead, they have put the money into the squad that was desperately needed and backed Nathan Jones even when we were really struggling last year - and now the rewards are coming.
This is what owners are supposed to do, put the money in, stay out of the limelight and leave the football to the football people.
They deserve massive appreciation for what they have done for our club after nearly twenty years of pain and embarrassment.31
