It is concerning he hasn't scored in 10, but, he is adjusting to a higher standard of football in a new team, and we are undoubtedly a worse team when he comes off.

Josh Sargent is probably the best striker in this league, but I specifically remember Norwich fans at the Valley in 2022 chanting "If Sargent scores, we're on the pitch". It isn't always easy for a striker to hit the ground running, unless they're special.

He is on a long contract, and Nathan Jones specifically wanted him. He will get going at some point 👍🏻
This is true but i do wonder if when he saw the fee that Kone ended up going for, and he could turn back the clock whether he'd have preferred to sign him instead of Kelman.

Wycombe reportedly turned down 7m from Luton in January, so i guess there was an expectation they'd want a similar price, yet he went for 2.75m rising to 5m with add ons.

I thought he played well against Millwall and every game since, we haven't created fuck all for him and I don't think having Godden in the team would have made any difference, the main problem is getting subbed after 60 minutes of every game. I thought he had a very good game Saturday.

I have not been at all impressed with him. Can’t head the ball, not strong enough. I think we have done another Ahadme, paid good money for him. I still can’t believe that Jones is picking Kelman and Campbell every week. Hope to see Leaburn and Oloafe upfront tonight. At least it will give us some physical presence. Bring Kelman and Campbell on if it doesn’t work.

Would be surprised if Leaburn started, not sure he’s done enough to start when coming on, unless it’s just a change to freshen things up. He needs to be stronger also, especially with his size, championship defenders love the battle and seem to be getting the better of Miles at the moment.

I can't compare him to Ahadme. From the outset, it was clear that Gas lacked technical ability, had poor balance and little awareness of what was around him. He should not have been signed - it was a scouting failure.

I think Kelman has more foundation to his game than that.

Godden would know where to be to get those chances and can create stuff for himself there’s a reason he scored so many goals despite having no creativity alongside or behind him, Kelman may not have had enough chances to say he’s a bad finisher and not clinical but his attacking positioning in the box has been atrocious there’s no point having a good trait if it’s been completely hindered by something else

He just doesn't seem to "bust a gut" like you'd hope. That's not to say he doesn't work, but if he was putting in the kind of shift Conor Gallagher used to do then I don't think there would be too many complaints. And he's not exactly gone full throttle in a couple of challenges, which is never going to come across well. Hard to warm to at the moment but hopefully it will come.

Think he can’t win on the challenges thing. From memory they’ve been against keepers who get a free kick when brushed, go in forcefully in a tackle and he’s getting a yellow at best and being called silly

Not always, as Tanto showed on Saturday when he was clattered by the Wednesday keeper

Score after 60 minutes when Kelman has started - the equivalent of 19 points from 9 matches and not a goal conceded:

    Watford  0-0
    Bristol City  0-0
    Millwall 1-0
    Sheff Utd 0-0
    Blackburn 1-0
    Derby 1-0
    Preston 0-0
    Sheff Wed 2-0
    Ipswich 2-0

That is the track the NJ runs on and trusts. Whether Kelman scores or not is almost incidental. As I keep stressing, it's the sum of the total that counts.

In 2022-23 Chuba Akpom was top Championship scorer with 28 goals and in the following season Sammie Szmodics was top Championship scorer with 27 goals. They haven't a goal between them this season and sometimes too many options, especially when a manager feels that he has to keep chopping and changing to keep them all happy, can confuse things. NJ prefers to keep it simple until such time as that stops working.

It his effect that was well saved for a corner, was what led to it being 2-0 wasn't it?

Honestly, if you are still questioning Kelman as a player, you can take a long hard look in the mirror and repeat the word clueless! His goals will come but he is so important to the way we play! Get off his fucking back, seriously.

The last 2 games he’s been outstanding imo. Obviously he needs a goal but his all round play is good

We're going to get promoted with a 20 goals a season striker.
You heard it here first  ;)

He was class tonight, his running off the ball for Careys goal took a defender away. Once he gets that 1st goal there will be no stopping him👊

First real shot at goal I have seen him having, forcing a top save out of the keeper, more of that!

It’s coming. It’s coming. He’d have scored Saturday but for an excellent recovery from a Wednesday defender. That run and shot he had tonight wasn’t the stuff of a player lacking confidence and hinted at what he has in his locker (can’t recall Godden hitting a shot that hard or cleanly from distance, for example).

Just willing him to get one soon.
