  • Watched on a stream.

We were comfortable for the first half, but never really looked like scoring.

A deflected goal, and then we were chasing the game, but again never looked like scoring.

Kelman, Campbell and Leaburn desperately need a goal.

Doc got through some work again.

Two weeks rest and we go again against Sheff Wed which is a game we need to win based on the opposition’s situation.
  • Campbell and Kellman up top just doesn’t work should never happen again. Give Olaofe a start up top with Kellman. Not sure why Apter can’t get a game either
We looked (marginally) better with TC Kelman upfront than after they came off. But the truth is I’m not sure any combination of our strikers are going to be prolific in this league.

Either start with Tanto or Mikes alongside Kelman or don’t start with Kelman and one or both of the aforementioned. We can’t keep hoping that we’re still in the game after 60 minutes or so to bring on the game changers.
How long can we keep calling them game changers if they don’t change the game in our favour?
  • Watched on a phone in a pub without sound, so difficult to properly engage with events. Think Anthony Barness was in the pub as an aside!

We are beginning to look tired mid game - same at Derby I thought.  As meagre as it was beforehand, we looked much worse after TC went off - he gets us up the pitch.  Looked to me like Kelman and Carey often combined well, but I could have had the players confused.  Nothing outrageous, but we appeared to get very little from the ref.
  • It’ll be interesting first team back after the break. Apart from a few positions it’s all up for grabs. I’d like to see apter back on the pitch soon

  • Good time for the International break .. the squad needs some rest, niggles dealt with and a refresh.
We play a very intense type of game which takes it's toll on players, still a LONG way to go and lots to happen until season's end. Keeping fresh and motivated is essential, and that's just the fans !

We'll have games like that this season where we were 2nd best, but not by much.
We looked tired and lacked ideas when attacking.

The defected goal was coming, they should of been ahead previously, but the bloke headed it at TK, who did well to parry then collect the ball.

Bree looked tired and didn't have the impact he's been having, I would of thrown Apter on. Leaburn could of done better with the cross he met, but we didn't really look like scoring today. Kelman was good, I just think he needs a better partner up front, TC, for all his endeavours, isn't a striker.
Doc played well. Our other game changers didn't have any impact, and we seemed to lose impetus with all the changes.
Good to see Berry make his 1st appearance this season.
12th in the league after 9 games is far better than I thought we'd be.

We are solid enough at home, our away from will be patchy this season.

A welcome break now to reset and work on the fluidity up front.

I'm not too despondent. PNE are basically a well seasoned version of ourselves, who have a touch more quality and experience.

Kudos to the traveling fans, could hear them all game, safe journey home.

    UTA!!
    Great summary. Spot on.
  • 4 strikers and none of them look good that’s the issue
  • Wise after the event? ..  Koné would/could/should have been signed
  • Think this is the time to freshen things up now. They made four changes to our one from midweek which may have been one reason they looked stronger.

Regardless of performances, fact is neither of our starting strikers have scored this season.
  • 4 strikers and none of them look good that’s the issue
5 defenders didn’t work in league one .
  • A successful mini season. Nine games played and 12 points. Last two games a disappointment but maybe the fixture scheduling was against us this week.
We can compete at this level but we are a lower half team in terms of salaries, quality, squad value etc.
A two week break most welcome and a very winnable game in two weeks.
Lots to be positive about whilst being mindful that the league will start to take shape soon with some of the better equipped clubs improving and we need to pick up points regularly and arrest any slump.
Still would happily take fourth from bottom.
  • This game was 0-0 … we were handling them
Quite comfortably they had one real good chance .. then giant piece of luck that we never seem to get Small shot looked no problem for Kaminski but Ramsey making a good challenge ball flys of him and loops into our goal … it was harsh , we had a great chance through Leaburn to get it back but it was not to be .. Kelman was very good again today question is why take him off when you just gone one nil down .. again today we had 1/2 very good  chances today with a little more belief from Campbell and Leaburn , but we have a goalscorer who crying out for these chances he not going to score them on the bench

but we are not going to win every game and Deepdale a tough place to come .. and with this ref who I mentioned before this game and the linesman we can be proud of who close we come on getting a point we move on ..
No shame in losing but it could have been 3 or 4. Totally out classed second half and we never looked like scoring

The problem is that it does work in keeping the opposition busy, but not in scoring goals. This is the conundrum that NJ faces. As soon as they come  off  we look more vulnerable, even when we are winning. I don't know what the solution is but then I am not paid to be a football manager. Good luck NJ!

  • Absolutely dreadful.

Midfield can't contain the ball, defence had a bad day, which can't really happen as it is our only key to success, and to top it all off, all our strikers looked ineffective.

8 games minimum for all our strikers, 9 games in, a combined 35 appearances, and 1 goal to show for it. Woeful.

International break very much needed to dispense of a Sheffield Wednesday side that is a must win game.
  • Preston deserved the points, the initial luck with the deflection went their way but they should have been 1-0 up at that point anyway. Opened us up when we were pushing forward. No arguments from me.

Kelman and Campbell are full of running but won’t score as a pair. Campbell hasn’t scored since Easter despite starting all games. Time to experiment with our pairings up top.
  • NJ doesn't like changing an unbeaten side. So after he reads CL let's see what the front line is against Sheff Wed. COYR
  • PWR.

The misery of Preston strikes again. 1 win in 70 years up there. Worse than our record at the Den.

Wasnt there & didnt watch it either so relied on SKY and updates on here. I expect it's all been said already so will gloss over today, but something needs to change up front. Whether its personnel or system.....or both. 1 goal scored between the 4 main "front men" is abysmal. I expect people will start spouting "no problem, just wait until Godden gets back in the team...." but by then we could be in the bottom 4 or 5. You wont win a game of football without scoring.

Anyway. Onwards & upwards. Let's take a proper look after 18 games, not 9.
  • One game too many for our tired legs.

Hope Nathan will try something different next time but guess much will depend on the fitness of players that have travelled/played during the International Break.

Sheff Weds will be there for the taking unless something dramatic happens at the club during the next 2 weeks.
  • It's not that long ago that we worried that some club would come in and nick Leaburn off us. I think at the moment we would struggle to give him away. He doesn't seem to have pushed on (perhaps his injury has affected him longer term) but It seems there is something missing at the moment.

The thing that is missing affecting Leaburns game is service!!!

He does look markedly slower than before his injury. Maybe I just have a poor memory but used to think he had a decent 5-10 yard sprint.
