  • I thought we looked tired in 2nd half, wonder if this was a game that on reflection Jones may have tried Leaburn or Tanto with Kelman from the start & TC as a sub?
Having two long aways Tues & Sat definitely didn't help, I presume team bus didn't get back from Derby till 1-2am and then team drove up to Preston on Friday?
This 2 week break is timely and hopefully gives players time to rest and work on their fitness & hopefully Godman will be close to starting on the bench, we miss sniffer dog.
Its been a promising and enjoyable start to life in the Championship, Jones has done really well, lets see where we are at end of October. COYA's.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but I'm finding it incredibly frustrating how 8/10 times it's Charlie Kelman running down the line and putting a cross into the box for TC, surely it's got to be the other way round?

I like TC but he's not a striker, let alone a poacher.

The problem is most times TC gets the ball out wide he has 2 defenders on him. Teams are very aware of his 1v1 threat and try and stop it, this can be tough for TC but it creates space on the other side of the pitch for our other players to benefit. The clearest example of this was our goal against Derby, they have 2 players on TC so if we move the ball quickly enough to the other side then Bree is a spare man. This is where a lot of people don’t give TC enough credit, even when he isn’t particularly doing much like on Saturday, we are a better team with him on the pitch because of what his threat makes the opposition do

This is why the game turned with TC going off, we had no threat on the left (no disrespect to Ramsay as he’s not a LWB), so Preston could then be a lot more aggressive on that side and Small didn’t have to worry about defending anymore. We lost the game by not subbing Hernandez on for TC

As predicted by the Preston guest on the Charlton Live preview, the loaned players put the game to bed with the second goal. Shame about the first one, BUT, that's life
I'll say yet again, we need the long break to rest the players and take care of niggling injuries.
How we develop a strategy to score more goals is up for discussion. Games like this prove that a strong defence is not guaranteed to get us points
