Good chop back to lose the defender before tucking it away

    Lovely movement and finish
  • Will be doing his confidence no end of good.  Hopefully he keeps on banging them in.
  • Great finish

I assume because he's already played for us and it's a season long loan we can't recall him at all? Which is for the best really.

Well we can but only to play for us which seems pointless
  • Another class goal - still seems ridiculous we played him for 30 minutes in the cup which prevents him moving to league one in January - which would be a much better test of his ability.
  • Cracking goal by young Daniel. Oozing confidence with that one

Would have a small amount of sympathy for Walsall if that happened, after last season with losing Nathan Lowe after January.

Nathan Lowe was the exact scenario I was thinking. Would be shit to have to do it, would rather he went for the Golden Boot at that level than come back and bench warm for us.
  • Happened with his last loan at  Southend scored 4 in one game , we had injuries so we recalled him

Daniel was really unlucky with his two ankle injuries which affected the 2nd half of last season.
I have always been confident Kanu would score regularly in the EFL at either League 1 or 2 but he needed to play every week to get his career back on track.
Moving to the Midlands and playing for a decent Walsall team looks a good loan.

Lovely lovely goal - like it was never in doubt as soon as he got the ball

Check out Mbick's finish too, looking good for our future stars
  • Sounds like they aren’t aware he can’t be loaned to league one so seems therefore almost 100pc unlikely he would be recalled
  • I want him to see out the season because I think that it will do him so much good in the way it did Grant at Crawley (but also, selfishly, for the bets I've had on him).

Is there one scenario, though, where he could leave Walsall in January? One where at the turn of the year we are struggling to find the net and/or Godden and another striker is out injured and we feel we need him to become part of our match day squad. He also offers us something a bit different to the others we have on the books. Clarification re the possibility of that happening would be handy.

Yes it’s possible he comes back here but it’s unlikely. It’s what Walsall fans are concerned about after what happened with Stoke last year

In which case it's still a bit of a head scratcher as it why he remains do under the bookies' radar. Only BetVictor have re-priced their book but they have him now at 25/1 (1/4 odds 1-4). They have Cheek at 3/1.

Cheek's record at that level is there for all to see. However, at the same stage, after Walsall's 9th league games last season Nathan Lowe had 2 goals whereas Cheek had 6 goals. Cheek would probably have been 3/1 again and Lowe probably 50/1 - Cheek finished with 25 goals whereas at the time Lowe left, following Walsall's game on 11th January, he had 15 goals in 22 games with Walsall still having another 22 matches to play.

There are a couple of advantages that Kanu has over Lowe too. Kanu is a year older and has more experience of playing and scoring goals whereas Lowe had just 2 league goals to his name when he arrived at Walsall last season.

Weight of money does also have a factor but the fact remains that Kanu is a single goal behind Cheek and is more than 8 times the price. If you had £20 at 3/1 on Cheek and £10 EW at 25/1 on Kanu, you will get almost as good a return for Kanu finishing 4th as you will for Cheek winning it. Betting is all about doing so at the right price and recognising when the traders have it wrong. They don't do it often and will rarely do so on a Premier League market because so much information is out there. The lower you go, the less they know.  I have already been in twice at 50/1 but will wait to see what the others now offer once they've re-opened their books.
  • I am no expert in betting AA as I avoid it like the plague (it wouldn’t mix well with my addictive personality!) but I imagine it’s as simple as someone like Cheek having more of a track record and name recognition. If you look at Kanu’s numbers in the cold light of day his goals per game ratio isn’t particularly impressive but that doesn’t take into account he’s been playing above his current level. I assume he’ll be worth a flutter and you’ll make a decent amount off him
  • DK shortened to 33/1 on bob's lot
