100% they're an absolute gang of mongs - look at that lot by the gate - embarrassing - the bald bloke with the shades - christ , i'd be more scared of being gang raped by that lot than hitGreenhithe said:I would genuinely let everyone out at the same time. So it only seems fair that we do not give them the whole of the Jimmy Seed stand next season.
Give them 2k tickets instead of 3k tickets, have a police presence in the stand and keep them back for 30 minutes after the game instead of all the nonsense yesterday.6 -
LoOkOuT said:1 - give them the whole west stand on £5 tickets
2 - keep them behind for 40 mins
3 - let them kick off amongst themselves
4 - bill Millwall for the inevitable repairs required.
5 - deport them to Rwanda

Each club in London has a dedicated team. They used to be based locally and it was 100% the only job they did. But it was centralised years ago and moved up to the old NSY. No idea where the football policing unit is based now.Markg2004 said:Police will do what is easier. Always have done.
There is no accountability. That's what is looks like anyway.
Any result other than a loss for Millwall and they were never going to be quick to leave. That is obvious.
Who decided the arrangement, local police at Greenwich or a higher up in the Met?1 -

On a serious note. I don't understand why we cannot go through the underpass opposite the shop, given following the route we then go back down Woolwhich Road2 -

The police were letting people through there yesterday by the time I got there (Ransom Walk). There was a police van parked across the bulk of the entrance but quite easy to get through either side of it. There were 6 or 8 special looking coppers (white caps among them), having a chat and looking embarrassed I thought. I reckon the volume of fans heading that way was too many to hold back.Kap10 said:

Those getting to Charlton Church Lane to go up to the station had this view and no way through

The side path at Barney close, behind the Antigallican was no go too as police were there stopping anyone.0 -

I see on the BBC site the away game Sat 24th Jan is a 12.30 kick off already can’t be cos Sky have pencilled it in for the exciting free flowing football and entertainment the neutral would get just cos there’s 🥩1

It's so our fans can get home in daylight.....oh hold on we're being kept in for a couple of hours or more.1

The kick off time being moved was announced at the same time as when Saturday's game was announced as being movedoohaahmortimer said:I see on the BBC site the away game Sat 24th Jan is a 12.30 kick off already can’t be cos Sky have pencilled it in for the exciting free flowing football and entertainment the neutral would get just cos there’s 🥩2 -

These handrails where a surprise, but what a god send,I am 81 with a recent knee replacement, and had great difficulty getting up and down those steps.Thank you CAFC for making life a little bit more bearable.Covered End said:

That’s a good thing and has resulted in many positive actions eg the handrails in the Curbs stand and improved F&B service - albeit still plenty of room for further improvement. There is no “cosy relationship” and we take our responsibilities to represent fans and raise issues completely seriously. None of the CAST board receive any hospitality or perks from the club, despite what some would have you believe. Instead we put in hours of volunteer work. As Fen says, stand for the board. Or offer your help as a volunteer.
I have to be honest and say I missed the fans campaigning for handrails.

When you grab the handrails the edges are very sharp and will cause cuts. They need filing down and making smooth.

Some of my friends in the East / Curbs have been pushing for these rails for sometime, so we'll done the club and CAST. For those of us of a certain age, the steepness of the stand is daunting.thickandthin63 said:

@Hex I just ran a quick search with Perplexity and it identified a Met office called Steve Boswell based at Lambeth/Southwark, with the rank Chief Inspector, but it found no evidence he has been involved with football (other than the Met Police footie team) . Perplexity picked up the Charlton Life thread, but said there is nothing else to link him to football.guinnessaddick said:

And now Perplexity itself has crashed.🤣1 -
Not just middle aged, one or two there should have their Freedom Passes confiscated.SouthLincsAddick said:I saw the trouble erupt at the Seed/Curbishley gate. Having a couple of stewards on that gate was a joke. When they did break through I couldn’t help thinking what sad, broken lives these middle aged Millwall fans must have that beating up teenagers is their highlight of the day.

This is why he needed the hand rails - he threw his walking sticks in to the away end.CaptainRobbo said:

Club needs to do more in ticketing. Saw adults going into West stand with kids tickets. Told the supervisor who simply said more the fool them. Presumably meaning they are letting the club down.

I think with hindsight and having the opportunity to reflect, the decision by the police to not hold back Millwall could still be argued by the police to be reasonable. There is some logic in trying to remove 3k quickly given the perceived risk of adverse reaction by them if kept waiting.I’m assuming in the absence of any reports to the contrary there were no noteworthy skirmishes between the 2 sets of fans excepting the Sam Bartram gate incursion. On that basis I’d guess the police can claim it was the right call.We don’t like it and consider it unfair but it’s not without any safety merit.
What can’t be defended however is the associated club comms, marshalling/announcements post game and not limiting vehicle access in Charlton Lane ie the implementation of it.The Sam Bartram gate / steps fighting I think is likely to be a ‘hands up we got that wrong’ issue as never really seen before to my knowledge.I’d expect (sadly) a similar arrangement next time with a commitment to handle it better.3 -
And everything you have posted was said after the game in 2013 when pretty much the same arrangements were used.valleynick66 said:I think with hindsight and having the opportunity to reflect, the decision by the police to not hold back Millwall could still be argued by the police to be reasonable. And as shown by Saturday and the lack of comms before during and after from our club, nothing has changed in how our own supporters were treated at our ground17
