Unfortunately I was at the bottom of those stairs with my eight year old son and his friend as that gate opened. There was a panic and people tried to run… like when someone gets shot. I grabbed their hands said ‘we’ll be fine but hold my hand and let’s walk up the stairs quickly’. I looked straight ahead but my son looked back and said he saw a group on Millwall fans attacking a single Charlton fan, and that he felt really sorry for that fan.
He was petrified and is still distraught now. Wouldn’t let me leave his room at bed time.
Can’t lie, I’m fucking furious and will be making a complaint.2 -
its very simple - hold them in for half hour after the game then escort them to the station - thats it - nothing else needs to be done - the trust need to get all over this and make sure this nonsense doesn't happen again next year24

That’s a good thing and has resulted in many positive actions eg the handrails in the Curbs stand and improved F&B service - albeit still plenty of room for further improvement. There is no “cosy relationship” and we take our responsibilities to represent fans and raise issues completely seriously. None of the CAST board receive any hospitality or perks from the club, despite what some would have you believe. Instead we put in hours of volunteer work. As Fen says, stand for the board. Or offer your help as a volunteer.
You have offered honorary places to people on your board in the past, so no reason in my opinion why that can’t be done again. Unless you want me to go through other channels
I look forward to your reply
For clarity, we have no honorary places on the CAST board. We do have the facility to co-opt members in the short term where they bring specialist skills or can support our resourcing. This requires a decision of the CAST board. Anyone co-opted may then choose to stand for election at the next annual opportunity.2 -

Any critics would I am sure be welcome to join, to stand or volunteer for any office, and do things better.
The trust can only hope to influence, not control.2 -
Met up with my best Uni buddy from Pompey while over. He said Southampton have restricted them to 2k for today’s game, ina stadium of 32k. Prices jacked up 30% too. Pompey fans furious of course. As I know from Uni days this fixture is as high octane as ours - once plod intercepted and impounded an entire train full of Pompey at Fareham
the difference is that both fanbases are pretty much equally guilty of kicking off. Interesting to see how that pans out today.

Am I the only one who is angry that there has been nothing from the club yet?
Surely they could have issued a statement along the lines of ‘We are aware of incidents that occurred at The Valley on Saturday and are saddened and appalled by them. We will be launching a thorough investigation of these incidents and the safety controls put in place and would urge supporters with any information, camera footage etc to contact Ed Warrick at The Valley as soon as possible’.23 - Sponsored links:

The trust can only hope to influence, not control.CAST acts on behalf of its members in order to protect, preserve and promote CAFC for this and future generations. We therefore aim to understand and represent the whole fanbase as best we can. Of course we’re not perfect and don’t always get it 100% right. We absolutely try our best on behalf of Addicks.11 -
If we play them at the valley again next season, which is a reasonable probability, hopefully the club will take negative possibilities a lot more seriously.0

For anyone floating the idea of a bubble match. Where exactly would they park the 50+ coaches probably needed. Mansfield brought 6 coaches last season and there was barely any road space outside the away end.
Google maps says 24 mins between The Valley and The Den via car. Probably an hour journey+ on a Saturday. Roads are slow around Charlton anyway, imagine the ache of having 50 coaches taking priority on woolwich road.0 -

Portsmouth fans can only go to the game if they go on club arranged coaches which will have a police escort, so there's not really much chance for any trouble unless some are stupid enough to kick off inside the stadium.0 -

No home team in any other derby in the UK (as far as I’m aware) is treated like this by the police.
Odds on the decision maker at the police being Millwall? I am joking, of course, but I’m really struggling to make sense of the rationale behind the policing yesterday (and historically for that matter)!4 -
The bubble match in London is a total non starter.
If the Met Police cannot deal with 3K Millwall supporters without having to change the match day arrangements for home supporters then we need to give Millwall the least amount of tickets EFL rules state.
Enough is enough with this game.4 -
Bubble games are a bit silly in this modern world where people don’t live in the local area of the club they support anyway0

The O.B even said the club make the decision in keeping fans back after the game, but Charlton for donkeys years have always treated away fans better than their own supporters, can’t even pop out at half time for a cigarette unlike at away grounds, a lot needs to be done at Charlton, the attitude towards its own fans stinks.1

Millwall will not give us the lower stand when we play there later in the season.
So it only seems fair that we do not give them the whole of the Jimmy Seed stand next season.
Give them 2k tickets instead of 3k tickets, have a police presence in the stand and keep them back for 30 minutes after the game instead of all the nonsense yesterday.26 -

In the same way Mick Everitt still works at Charlton despite people saying he has left us3 -
