Is this a single Charlton fan running at the scum when they scored?
I reckon that's a millwall fan in our end. Running to celebrate with them. Then taking a few digs from them thinking he is Charlton 😂

Put this in another thread but adding it here for the record / CAST rep:

Unfortunately I was at the bottom of those stairs with my eight year old son and his friend as that gate opened. There was a panic and people tried to run… like when someone gets shot. I grabbed their hands said ‘we’ll be fine but hold my hand and let’s walk up the stairs quickly’. I looked straight ahead but my son looked back and said he saw a group on Millwall fans attacking a single Charlton fan, and that he felt really sorry for that fan.

He was petrified and is still distraught now. Wouldn’t let me leave his room at bed time.

Can’t lie, I’m fucking furious and will be making a complaint.
Very sorry to hear this. It's completely unacceptable.
I was adjacent when the millwall fans broke through the gate.Did same as you kept walking and didnt look back.Never usually go out that way but thought it would be safer.Absolutely mad that there was just one steward on tbat gate.sadly i stopped taking my kids or anyone else for that matter to games involving milleall as they are utter scumbags

its very simple - hold them in for half hour after the game then escort them to the station - thats it - nothing else needs to be done - the trust need to get all over this and make sure this nonsense doesn't happen again next year
It will happen again for sure. The police will make it a priority to cater for the 3000 rather than the 20,000.

There is a more constructive relationship with the club than there has been for years - virtually since CAST was set up in 2012. That’s a good thing and has resulted in many positive actions eg the handrails in the Curbs stand and improved F&B service - albeit still plenty of room for further improvement.

There is no “cosy relationship” and we take our responsibilities to represent fans and raise issues completely seriously. None of the CAST board receive any hospitality or perks from the club, despite what some would have you believe. Instead we put in hours of volunteer work. As Fen says, stand for the board. Or offer your help as a volunteer.
As the chairperson of the trust can you advise your secretary that they should have mail in regards to placing me on your trust board

You have offered honorary places to people on your board in the past, so no reason in my opinion why that can’t be done again. Unless you want me to go through other channels

I look forward to your reply
Thank you, Shirty. I will mention to Secretary Richard Wiseman to keep an eye out and he will respond to you individually.

For clarity, we have no honorary places on the CAST board. We do have the facility to co-opt members in the short term where they bring specialist skills or can support our resourcing. This requires a decision of the CAST board. Anyone co-opted may then choose to stand for election at the next annual opportunity.

The supporters trust is a good and worthwhile organisation, run by volunteers.
Any critics would I am sure be welcome to join, to stand or volunteer for any office, and do things better.
The trust can only hope to influence, not control.
It's also a democratically run organisation. As a paid up member if I have an issue I should be allowed to raise it in a forum that is meant to be about our football club.
  • Met up with my best Uni buddy from Pompey while over. He said Southampton have restricted them to 2k for today’s game, ina stadium of 32k. Prices jacked up 30% too. Pompey fans furious of course. As I know from Uni days this fixture is as high octane as ours - once plod intercepted and impounded  an entire train full of Pompey at Fareham :D the difference is that both fanbases are pretty much equally guilty of kicking off. Interesting to see how that pans out today.

Bubble game so shouldn't be any trouble

It is also helpful if you email secretary@castrust.org please as we don’t always have the resources to monitor all message boards and social media. It also helps if we know who people actually are rather than pseudonyms.

CAST acts on behalf of its members in order to protect, preserve and promote CAFC for this and future generations. We therefore aim to understand and represent the whole fanbase as best we can. Of course we’re not perfect and don’t always get it 100% right. We absolutely try our best on behalf of Addicks.
  • If we play them at the valley again next season, which is a reasonable probability, hopefully the club will take negative possibilities a lot more seriously.

And no one would dispute it. Just seems if you are a member and you make a criticism you are in the wrong when as you say the Trust is not always right.
  • For anyone floating the idea of a bubble match. Where exactly would they park the 50+ coaches probably needed. Mansfield brought 6 coaches last season and there was barely any road space outside the away end.

Google maps says 24 mins between The Valley and The Den via car. Probably an hour journey+ on a Saturday. Roads are slow around Charlton anyway, imagine the ache of having 50 coaches taking priority on woolwich road.

Can guarantee it will be better policed than our game and the Pompey fans will be kept in after.

Portsmouth fans can only go to the game if they go on club arranged coaches which will have a police escort, so there's not really much chance for any trouble unless some are stupid enough to kick off inside the stadium.

This. Are we missing something here? It seems so ridiculously obvious that this is the only logical way to police the sc*m.

No home team in any other derby in the UK (as far as I’m aware) is treated like this by the police.

Odds on the decision maker at the police being Millwall? I am joking, of course, but I’m really struggling to make sense of the rationale behind the policing yesterday (and historically for that matter)!
  • The bubble match in London is a total non starter.

If the Met Police cannot deal with 3K Millwall supporters without having to change the match day arrangements for home supporters then we need to give Millwall the least amount of tickets EFL rules state.

Enough is enough with this game.
  • Bubble games are a bit silly in this modern world where people don’t live in the local area of the club they support anyway

    Where has anyone said that?
  • The O.B even said the club make the decision in keeping fans back after the game, but Charlton for donkeys years have always treated away fans better than their own supporters, can’t even pop out at half time for a cigarette unlike at away grounds, a lot needs to be done at Charlton, the attitude towards its own fans stinks.

Have you actually made a criticism as a member ( I assume you are a member)? Which means either a face to face chat, or by email directly, setting out your criticisms?

So many times on this forum we are reminded the board are volunteers when asking questions. Some have even been told they 'hate' board members when pointing out mistakes
  • Millwall will not give us the lower stand when we play there later in the season.
So it only seems fair that we do not give them the whole of the Jimmy Seed stand next season.
Give them 2k tickets instead of 3k tickets, have a police presence in the stand and keep them back for 30 minutes after the game instead of all the nonsense yesterday.
I agree. But that will cost the club. So make up for that by charging them 30% more as Southampton are doing with Pompey. That might trigger a response from the Millwall club re prices - but then I’d expect we have a good relationship at board level, with Kav being their CEO. Millwall do have to own this problem more than they do. Kav knows perfectly well that other clubs will bring 3k to the Valley this season and none of the nonsense we saw yesterday will happen.

Steve Kavanagh was sacked by Millwall over a year ago.

Steve Kavanagh or Kav to some left a long time ago.

In the same way Mick Everitt still works at Charlton despite people saying he has left us

You’d have to charge the CE Lower 30% more too

About one day a week, I believe. He is matchday safety officer but he isn’t in charge of operations and hasn’t been for many years. And his name is Everett!
