Can people please email photos and first hand evidence to secretary@castrust.org and we will compile and raise with the club. Thank you. (Doesn’t matter if you’re a member or not)
You do realise that some people might think what's the point in involving the Trust in anything now, don't you? I've always been a supporter, but that response to the announced restrictions before the game was just a joke. I thought the idea of a members organisation was to stand up for and protect the interests of its members , as uncomfortable as that may be for those who may have cosy little relationships with the club.
They are too close to the club these days to say anything to upset them. The club have them exactly where they want them
Unfortunately, this very much seems to be the case. It's the only explanation that makes any sense.
In fairness the pair of fans advisors silence has been noted as well
As ever, you could always stand to join the board and make any changes you wish
Your usual answer Fen. You got a problem me bringing this up then?

Another day tomorrow and things will be in place then
No problem with it at all. But I don't think there's any harm in pointing out that those who criticise the Trust have the option of doing something about it. Obviously there are reasons why people might choose or not be able to but it's easy to criticise, hard to act.
    Seen and noted Fen

As Shaw Taylor would say, Keep em peeled
Your constant criticism of the Trust over the last few years does seem very personal though. Someone on there you obviously hate.

I don’t think the Trust should be bashed on this one. This isn’t their fault.
Personal towards who, cause I would like to know the answer to that one and hate is a strong word as well which i refute

Their tweet yesterday was not acceptable in my opinion and I’m not alone on that one

Personally speaking, knowing the poster and classing him as a friend, I can say that there is no malice with the criticism/oberservations and and all is with the best intentions.

  • General point; Today was some kind of special security risk which meant urgent preparations were imposed and notified the day before to a small audience of fans on twitter and here. A lot of us were grossly inconvenienced and it could have been tragic, given the pinch points in the route, the lack of guidance by anyone, and then them busting through the gate. Other teams fans will come and fill that stand, not as bad as Millwall, but people have not done their jobs today and we don't exactly who or why as of yet. There is a need for a review and real assurance that real improvements can be made.

    Two myths that i think we can dispel;
Myth #1: The police were not short-staffed or pressed today as some were speculating (there were hundreds of them and they weren't where they needed to be at the time they were needed, but could be observed being ineffective, or obstructive at other times),

Myth #2: We were not blessed with a visit from Millwall's superior fan contingent who only qualified for a ticket owing to their higher loyalty point allocations or for being season ticket holders. That club is truly rotten. We need assurances this cannot happen again and actually, pretty urgently.

(And, for what its worth, I agree with Southendaddick, that this thread is not likely to be resurrected until their next visit, and that would be useful evidence in itself of their status).

  • Not into that sort of shit myself, but I think Charlton surprised Millwall all over the place today. Whatever floats your boat i guess. Had a couple of pints in the oak post match and walked up Floyd Road to the station. Fella on the platform said a couple of groups were going at it outside the fans bar. But not a copper in sight!

The spanner probably jumped the queue and got served without waiting.
  • There is a more constructive relationship with the club than there has been for years - virtually since CAST was set up in 2012. That’s a good thing and has resulted in many positive actions eg the handrails in the Curbs stand and improved F&B service - albeit still plenty of room for further improvement.

There is no “cosy relationship” and we take our responsibilities to represent fans and raise issues completely seriously. None of the CAST board receive any hospitality or perks from the club, despite what some would have you believe. Instead we put in hours of volunteer work. As Fen says, stand for the board. Or offer your help as a volunteer.
Understand all that but direct communication with the trust isn’t enough, neither are controlled Q&As or supposed engagement structures. An organisation needs leaders who lead. Ed Warrick is, I understand, in charge of operations. Let’s hear from him, and not second hand.
Quite agree. CAST can amplify comms in situations like this but not lead on them.

Probably still had to wait about 10mins to get a beer!
  • At the end of the day give the game a miss.

    The trust is impotent

they have zero influence on anything that matters.

I don’t know anyone on the board so this is not an attack on any individual

Particularly after the 'questions' given to Charlie whilst he was on board.  Gavin Carter appeared to be amused as well.
There is a very big place for communications between fans and a board but the trust seems to not have much clout.

Put this in another thread but adding it here for the record / CAST rep:

Unfortunately I was at the bottom of those stairs with my eight year old son and his friend as that gate opened. There was a panic and people tried to run… like when someone gets shot. I grabbed their hands said ‘we’ll be fine but hold my hand and let’s walk up the stairs quickly’. I looked straight ahead but my son looked back and said he saw a group on Millwall fans attacking a single Charlton fan, and that he felt really sorry for that fan.

He was petrified and is still distraught now. Wouldn’t let me leave his room at bed time.

Can’t lie, I’m fucking furious and will be making a complaint.
Very sorry to hear this. It's completely unacceptable.

As the chairperson of the trust can you advise your secretary that they should have mail in regards to placing me on your trust board

You have offered honorary places to people on your board in the past, so no reason in my opinion why that can’t be done again. Unless you want me to go through other channels

I look forward to your reply
  • I saw the trouble erupt at the Seed/Curbishley gate. Having a couple of stewards on that gate was a joke. When they did break through I couldn’t help thinking what sad, broken lives these middle aged Millwall fans must have that beating up teenagers is their highlight of the day.

Is this a single Charlton fan running at the scum when they scored?
  • The supporters trust is a good and worthwhile organisation, run by volunteers.
Any critics would I am sure be welcome to join, to stand or volunteer for any office, and do things better.
The trust can only hope to influence, not control.
