Feels like the Thierry situation a year ago.
Think it helps having that extra year pretty much guarantees decent money next summer if he doesn’t extend his deal now. Ideally his future has to be decided by next summer whether that’s signed a new contract or make a good chunk of money on him

As long as his attitude is ok, I’d keep him until the end of his contract .  How do you replace that ?

You can’t but realistically next season if fingers crossed we stay up this season with the trajectory of the squad we should be fine the following season with or without Ramsay a couple places in the league probably isn’t worth the few millions we can make off him. A fit Burke or a Z.Mitchell with good development may be able to somewhat fill that void if Ramsay leaves

We have heard multiple times the championship isn’t the destination! You don’t have those objectives and willingly sell your best players

after all the deserved plaudits last week, is tomorrow the day when KR gives away a penalty, scores an own goal and gets sent off for nutting the Ref?

Stick that on your highlights reel Kayne. (No he won't do any if those things). Little loyalty in football but i hope we tie him into a longer contract, 4 years would be nice, with a huge (£20m) release clause as he will be worrh thag in a couple of years.
  • 2 years left and already talking extension is a good sign.

We’d regret that release clause in the completely outside chance we get promoted. Average prem players go for more than that these days

And then posts "Up the Eagles" on his social media accounts before their game tomorrow  :D

Sounds like that’s our plan going forward, to try and avoid what happened to Small and to increase our power

He’s playing well, and was excellent last weekend, but I do think we’re getting slightly carried away with things if we’re now saying that Ramsay is literally irreplaceable.
  • Not surprised that he's apologised, but its only a Football match at the end of the day, and in the grand scheme of things. He'll remain a firm favourite amongst the fanbase I imagine, and will bounce back against Blackburn

Do get the feeling that he very much enjoys it here, and was good to see his reaction at the time, of someone realising with horror what they'd done, rather than someone not giving a shit.

Probably the first mistake since he's been here. If it wasn't for his heroics last season vs Wycombe in particular we might still have been playing L1 football today.

Just needs to ensure he scores the winner in January

Fair play to him for owning it. Evidences a level of awareness and class that has been missing in so many of our recent squads

He's been excellent for us and deserves some respect, support, and encouragement.

In L1, he could make slide tackles inside and outside the box, often timed to perfection. It did feel like that wouldn't be sustainable in the Championship. Look forward to Kayne V2.

Someone I know met him at end of match on way out, got a photo and reported: “ i like the ones that take time to speak to you and don’t make you feel like they rushing away that’s good players to me”

Frustrating, devastating. But still a cracking player for us

Ironically their goal was just the type of shot he's been getting key blocks for

I consistently refer to him as a Rolls Royce of a player. His decision making today was Lada at best.

Am I the only one who thought the first yellow card should have been Conor Coventry as it looked to me like he took the guy out and not Ramsay
  • That’s exactly what I said to my boy during the game thought the final foul was CC as well would need to see again

Silly boy though hopefully he learns from it but again it’s that step up in pace and things he got away with last season won’t happen in this league

Stupid decision but he has more than enough credit in the bank. We wouldn’t even be in this league without him. Jones should have been more positive with his approach after the sending off.

I thought that too, but I wasnt sure who the other player was at the time. Still, a stupid challenge when you are on a yellow card either way.

PWR.  Obviously a bad judgement call from him for the 2nd yellow. Think it was fairly predictable that he or Jones were going to pick up a 2nd yellow.  I think I was more pissed off that we didn’t target their number 4 (who I think was absolutely dreadful) after he had picked up a yellow. The way Campbell played yesterday should have seen him being instructed to run at the number 4 at every opportunity.

Anyway back to Ramsey, we have to remember that he has gone from a right back to a Centre back in the last 8 months. Probably wasn’t tested too much in league 1, but when he was he stood up. Totally different calibre of player in the championship. He will learn from yesterday for sure - that’s what good players do.  Think we can forgive and forget yesterday’s moment of madness and also his poor performance at QPR.
