Anyone else think we should look at someone like Caleb Taylor at West Brom?
Good player but would expect the fee needed to be substantial. I know they've added at CB this summer but I'd expect Taylor to still have a role to play.
West Brom have already rejected 2.5M from Millwall for Taylor and Hills cost Stockport 1M with 1M addons and a sell on. Far too much money for a squad neither of those get in over Jones or Ramsay
Burkes a weird one because from the outside it doesn’t look like a ‘bargain bin’ signing. The knowledge that he had severe injury record was there. The whole thing is so od

It’s not far too much, that is what you pay for a good squad player in the champ

Our marquee signing cost 3M, we don’t have 2-2.5M to be chucking on squad players. Considering we managed to get players like Bell and Carey on frees shows you don’t need to chuck obscene money on every player at this level definitely at some but not all

Taking your point, but with free transfers it will no doubt be interesting how much is spent on a player's signing on fee etc.

What we will pay and what is the going rate for a standard champ play is different. You get free transfers at every level of the game. Just because we won’t pay it doesn't mean that’s not the price for a squad player who can be reliably called on

Actually nothing odd about it. Just another member of the Nathan Jones mutual support group for Luton rejects.
Nathan Jones took such a pasting as manager at Stoke and Southampton that he has developed a siege mentality, stubborn and closed to advice from outsiders. "My way or the highway". He wants to surround himself with yes-men and is more comfortable with those who remind him of his glory years at Luton. This is such a common pattern with public figures, politicians, entertainers and military leaders it is easily recognizable.
Sometimes it works. Stalin got the job done. Hitler didn't. It has worked for Nathan Jones so far. Much as I would like to see us at least try to play football, I realize it could be very dangerous to change strategy now. I think we are stuck with it, at least until the end of the season. I do not think we will get relegated, and we do have a very remote chance of making top 6. Keep your fingers crossed!

There is something very odd about signing a permanently injured player.
How we play is irrelevant to signing someone who’s body is not up to the rigours of championship football all.
If Kanu does really well, I could see us recalling him and sending him to a L1 club in January.
He turned down a loan to Wimbledon earlier in the window .. cause he wanted to stay and fight for his place
My partner works closely with his mum, he didn't turn it down the club were holding out for something and the oppurtunity went missing which is why he ended up at Walsall
Walsall willing to pay more of his wages?
Honestly I don’t know all I was told was he was really keen on Wimbledon but was told to wait and the opportunity was missed which is why he ended up at Walsall - what is was I have no clue.

I won't say a word about the missed apostrophe earlier, or even the now missing "?".

It’s a football forum not an academic article, shove it up your arse
I wonder if the plan had been to keep Alex Mitchell but he wanted to go and play somewhere. He was useful to have around as someone who could play RCB or CB and is generally fit. That allowed him to cover for Ramsay, Jones and Burke, all of whom have injury history. If we're going to properly cover Ramsay though it will need to be someone who is naturally comfortable covering RB when Apter goes forward as well as being strong. Can't be that many of those knocking about, especially one who is happy to be a backup. It's not as easy as it was in L1 where you can take an unwanted Championship defender where their parent club doesn't really care if they play or not. Premier League sides will be wanting their youngsters to play and Championship sides are less likely to let you beg poverty and improve your side potentially at their expense
A Mitchell could not get into our League One side after Xmas so very much doubt he would work in the Champ

Don’t worry I’ve got two Masters degrees so I’m plenty educated. Just don’t have time for a couple of smug pricks to dog pile on missing some punctuation rather than discuss transfers.

Those sort of punctuation comments are supposed to be taken with a pinch of salt my friend, they are not intended to be taken seriously, life's too short mate...chill and look forward to us stuffing QPR and Millwall in a win double instead...

So Soton set to sign an attacking midfielder for £10m that isn't JRS.
Leaves the slightest of possibilities that, if no one else buys him, he can join Charlton on loan
The move also opens up possibilities for Alex Gilbert at Boro to fill the vacant slot in their midfield.
