He’s also the son of one of CL’s all time most loved posters who passed away a while back and is very much missed.2 -
Just rewatched the entire game on Sky (after attending earlier).
The best I've seen us play for an entire game for some time.
A mixture of bad luck, excellent blocks and lacking some finesse in the final pass or attempt at goal. The type that Berry or Godden would deliver last season.
CC and TC missed very straightforward headers, looking back.11 -
Frustrating and unlucky, a lot of good performances from some of the usual suspects but in particular Docherty who I’ve written off was great, and Leaburn was so much improved on Kelman
crazy how different the experience is at this level, by which I more mean the crowd and dynamic around the stadium, compared to what we’ve been used to. Here’s to many more 20k+ crowds !!1 -
What was the attendance?
Edit. 22k. Just checked.1 -
What was today’s attendance?1

Whatever the bad luck, referees etc, the fact is we've scored one goal in three games. We should have scored earlier against Watford and should have scored against Bristol and Leicester. But we didn't take our chances. Not panicking or feeling negative because at least we're creating chances. But this is a tough league full of teams that can take one chance like Leicester did today. And we're going to make it tougher on ourselves if our final third doesn't improve somewhat. I believe we have enough to survive, but our attack is a deficiency that has to be sorted. Still better than watching League 1 dross though.2

A game where we did everything right but score. Without doubt the better team which in itself is a massive statement we will be absolutely fine this season we just need that bit of cutting edge up top I think NJ will keep a settled team and not change anything but personally I would try to get Tanto into the mix from the start1

The lowest rate across all 24 teams last season was 8.4%. The season before it was 7.8%. We could have scored 3 from 3 and still be behind the lowest rate across 48 teams the last two years.
It’d have to be going some to continue to scoring at such a pitiful rate. The chances will start turning into goals soon.
Equal to the last three games where our 40 shots converting to 1 goals is three times worse than the worst season average, we can expect periods between now and May where we’ll go above average a score 5 or 6 times from 40 shots, bringing us closer to the middle.
Over 3 games, it’s not that surprising to go hot or cold but over 46 it would be extremely surprising.2 - Sponsored links:

Dominated them second half and brilliant as a team in the press and defensively, but couldn’t score. Leaburn and Campbell missed great chances, which is a worry going forward. Looking tame up front without Godden. But early days.0

I have seen a lot of comments/posts saying we were the better team now as the day has gone on. Sure, we got stuck in and had one of those chances gone in it might have been a different story. However, I’m not having it that we were hard done by and ‘the better team’. Leicester showed us what a bit of individual brilliance can deliver and had we come away winning 1-0 in a similar manner, we’d have been happy to be laying plaudits at the team’s door.
We fought hard, were unlucky not to see one of our chances go in, but if we want a realistic assessment of the game, we couldn’t find the quality in the final third to score. I don’t doubt that it’s there over the course of the season, but we had a wake up call today about the size of the task in this division, and we fell short.I am confident we’ll put it right against QPR, but I’m not buying the ‘totally dominant, we were robbed rhetoric’9 -
What was that object on the pitch in the first half that Nathan Jones ended up taking off anyway?2

Need a decent striker - going to be a long season …
disallowed, a brilliant shot from distance saved, a header saved on the line somehow and their keeper was the MOTM.2 -

No shame in that. At this level you're going to get players who can finish like that.
As an actual team we were better than Leicester.5 -

Leaburn was imperious and won everything in the air, Doch and Cov responded to criticism with two outstanding performances, Jones was excellent and would make a decent striker at a lower level... everyone was good.
(I will say, having defended Kelman recently, he annoyed me today. He came on with fresh legs and walked around the pitch).
And while we do have a lot of athleticism in the final third, we're lacking class and quality. We have a tendency to panic and snatch at things.
But I can't be displeased because if we keep playing like that, we'll do well.
For all those who big him up: what are his assist and goal statistics. Just like his Dad he is so overrated by our general support base.
Mendonca quoted saying Leaburn the best forward he played with.2 -

Yes, we know he has to improve aspects of his game and that is the challenge for him.
But people trying to bin him off already, we're only 3 games in ffs7 -

Sometimes a better sign that you win even when not playing well.0 -

Watching today I saw a massive gap in midfield ball getting played through the centre circle all game and if Godden was playing he would have bagged at least a hatty0
-
Godden would have scored today -
I want to see more of Tanto - he looks like he's chomping at the bit to get into the team I also think Rankin Costello looked very neat and tidy.
Early goal against QPR and we'll win.
How much more fun is it against proper football clubs.
This team know what they can do.
This manager is 💯 capable and will make the adjustments necessary.
We hadn't solved the goal scoring yet - but we will and when we do we will be a solid mid table champ side.
Get it really purring and we might even be a bit more.21 -
It felt strange to feel happy after defeat, I genuinely thought that we played very well and were the better side. On that showing we have nothing to worry about this season.6
