The keys to the game was three things. Firstly, two headers. One from Coventry and one from TC. Both should have been goals but were headed over. Maybe they were the wrong players for the ball to fall to in this situation. Secondly, a great bit of skill from their player to score a great goal and thirdly a poor ref who doesn't understand that if two players are pushing and shoving each over, you don't have to give a foul to one of them.
Other thing I keep seeing bandied about is that TC is lazy which is a crazy take. He presses like a monster, chases down lost causes and NJ loves him. There’s no way NJ loves a lazy player. When we’ve had Fraser, Gilbey et al in the last few years to call TC crazy is mad
I saw that on X. I can only think it’s his body language. He does plenty of running and pressing. As you say he wouldn’t play for NJ if he didn’t.
He’s always seemed to be a confidence player, can switch off and make basic errors, and isn’t physical and aggressive. To me that’s not the same thing as being lazy.

Based on that performance we should comfortably stay up .I thought our defence was outstanding and our attacking play positive but lacking the final killer pass or touch. On a different day we would win 2 or 3 nil
The problem with fans calling a modern day footballer lazy is that ground covered etc is measured accurately. So if a player wasn't putting in the effort, the manager would see it statistically. If there was an issue with any of Jones' players, I'm sure he would act on it so I think people shouldn't make these sort of statements which can only be described as ignorant.
Thought Carey was anonymous today and Apter struggled with his crossing…hopefully they can adapt….beaten by a wonder goal. Do we have someone who can do that? Not sure
Well Coventry hit a wonder strike in first half. Most keepers aren't saving that!
Really? That shot scored 0.2% as an expected goal and for good reason. It was too near the centre of goal. Any professional keeper should save that. I really think there were a lot of people with rose tinted Charlton glasses on today.
First off the xG was 0.03 not 0.2, so basically the same as their goal. Secondly, it had so much curve and movement and was placed right in the corner, it was a phenomenal save.
It had curve yes which took it from the centre of the goal to halfway towards the post. There is absolutely no way that it was heading for the top corner. The angle we see on the youtube highlights may give that impression but when you see the camera angle looking straight in to the goal, then you can see that it curves from mid goal to halfway towards the post. It’s one of those acrobatic saves that looks wonderful but really isn’t. It’s not one of those saves where the goalkeeper gets his fingers to the top corner and just manages to tip it over the bar.
I know what I see and I don’t care if I get lols, and I’m not attention seeking, just not bigging up what was an exciting looking shot but ultimately not going to trouble a goalkeeper at this level.
This is where the ball tracking had it going
This is the angle you’re talking about. That is nowhere near the centre of the goal and is still moving away. Outlandish takes based on opinion are fine, outlandish takes where you ignore the facts are just mad
It's also not "right in the corner" though in fairness.

It was still swerving when the keeper tipped it over, and it wouldn’t have been far off being in the corner if he’d missed it. But Championship keepers tend to be a step up from L1 keepers 🙁
I've woken up more frustrated than yesterday. What's really annoying me is that Leicester are not in a good place at the moment and they were there for the taking. We need to be making the most of bits of fortune like that that fall in front of us if we're going to survive. Preston managed it the week before and we should be looking back being grateful that we played Leicester before they'd sorted their squad out and settled in with their new manager. Come January if things are going well we'll never think about this game again but I fear if we keep not scoring then unfair results where teams have scored good goals against us will become more regular because we can't do what we did last season, which is rely on getting a better quality of chance off Cambridge and winning 1-0. It's early yet but I'm struggling to take the encouragement some have because that should have been 3 points and we need as many as we can get.
Do realise despite the off field issues Leicester’s squad is still good. Fatuwu cost more than our entire squad yesterday 15M vs 11M. These types of games are 1 in a million that you don’t score in it was just bad luck on the day. I don’t think it’s worth panicking cant view that game the same way we viewed Crawley at Home last seaosn
Yes I'm aware that their squad is still good, but that's very much the point; we came up against a squad of good players who haven't adapted to their manager's way of playing yet and have had a poor start. A game you could normally chalk off as a loss was there as a potential win through the luck of the schedule and we didn't make the most of it, which is a shame. Yesterday was bad luck sure but we can't afford too much of that in the Championship so it's disappointing, that's not panic.
QPR next week who, after a 7-1 thrashing, will be chomping at the bit to rectify it.

I dont often agree with @jimmymelrose but he said it wasn't a worldy top corner save.....and by looking at the pitcher he was right.
Just looked at final league one table from.last year.We lost 11 games despite getting promotion.wrexham lost 8 in automatic spot.we will probably lose 15-20 games minimum this season. The key will be turning draws into wins . We know we can defend we just need godden or equivalent to poach the odd goal.
Frustrating as it was, we played well enough to beat a team that was two leagues above us last season. Plenty of positives to take. There will be lots of changes for the game v Cambridge and one or two may well play themselves into starting v QPR.

My problem is that both "wingers" like to cross with the other foot, so are always cutting back inside & delivering a "dinky" cross. I know Apter can cross with his right but I dont think Campbell can with his left. I like to see wingers getting close to the byline & whipping in a cross.
David Beckham wouldn't get a look in nowdays & would be playing for Leytonstone Utd.

No he didn’t, he said any professional keeper would save it. I don’t think any of our keepers in the last 5 seasons save that, I don’t think 90% of keepers in L1 do either. I don’t understand the desire to argue that it wasn’t a good shot or a great save

Play like that every game and you win more than you lose.
Keep the faith
By not scoring?
Rest assured, you're not alone feeling disappointed that we lost. Everyone is. You may be alone if you couldn't see anything positive in the performance though.
Although that's the worry - if we couldn't win when we played well and they didn't, what happens when teams do play well?
Sometimes a better sign that you win even when not playing well.
They didn't play well because we didn't let them, and we've got used to seeing that.

Not sure it matters that it was still swerving, at the point where he saved it it wasn't in the corner. Had it been, it wouldn't have been saved. Was a great save nonetheless.

If that was Kaminski, we would be wetting ourselves, let's just appreciate it was a magnificent save, and one to be proud of...fu*kin' annoying at the same time though...🤦♂️
This is last season's league table. Look at the goals scored column, and the number of teams who stayed up averaging a goal a game. Millwall even got 8th playing like that.
We're not going to be the sort of side who scores loads of goals, whoever we play up front, as that isn't how we're set up, and we don't have the top quality needed to constantly carve open Championship defences. But we also won't concede many either, and it's that which relegated the bottom 3, not lack of goals.

I certainly dont think he is lazy and he 100% gives his all. My overall point is that he isnt a striker who scores goals or even sets them up and again, in my opinion, if we had Kelman or Tanto start alongside Leaburn then things may have been different.
As frustrated as I am that we didn’t win this game made me excited for the rest of the season we really do look good. Am I getting ahead of myself to say I think we could surprise people and finish 6th-8th? They just need to work on the final ball.
We will do well to finish in the top half. I’d be happy to just stay up and gradually build the squad.

He's not there to score 15+ goals, it's the other striker who's meant to be the main goalscorer.
I'd like to see what Tanto can do in that position.
I get the thinking behind Kelman and Leaburn together, but I wonder if that will upset the balance of the team. They will both run the channels a bit, but not in the same way as TC or Tanto might. That could put more pressure on Edwards to get forward and in turn Apter to play more like an out and out WB, rather than a WB with a lot of freedom to attack and form part of a front 3.
Looking forward to Tuesday as I'm sure players such as Tanto will get a run out.
We win that 3 - 0 on another day. I feel frustrated with the result but not the team because everyone played well. Leaburn was imperious and won everything in the air, Doch and Cov responded to criticism with two outstanding performances, Jones was excellent and would make a decent striker at a lower level... everyone was good.
(I will say, having defended Kelman recently, he annoyed me today. He came on with fresh legs and walked around the pitch).
And while we do have a lot of athleticism in the final third, we're lacking class and quality. We have a tendency to panic and snatch at things.
But I can't be displeased because if we keep playing like that, we'll do well.
I must have watched a different game as I didnt see Leaburn win much in the air at all. Expect more in the air from someone supposedly 6ft 6.
Seriously? He won nearly everything in the air.
True - i was at the game and I don’t get some of the whining our some of our players. Our fans need realistic expectations.
Obviously still gutted about yesterday as we really did deserve three points.
However, long term it may work in our favour, as Nathan and the players will have learn a lot from what can happen even when you dominate a game in this league.
Apter post match interview started with him saying something like the players now know it's time for them to start scoring goals with the attackers, including himself, need to start looking at themselves.
I saw some comment after the game that 'we've only scored one goal in 3 games, cause for serious concern'. We've been the better side in all 3 games, what the fuck lol

The fact that we’ve played well and not scored from open play isn’t ideal . It’s not a cause for serious concern but it will require some thought about how we attack. I am sure he will get it right .

Etc etc.

Hope it's still worth a watch
Felt Lesta would have been fortunate with a point, never mind all 3. We have nothing to fear in this league.
