I'm still annoyed that after signing just about every single player from Swindon over the past 5 years we skipped over Scott Twine to spend the summer pursuing Scott Fraser even though we were never going to get him. We started that season with Albie bloody Morgan as our 10 when Twine was available on a free transfer. Absolute madness11

I think until we get about 9 or 10 league games under our belt we will stay nervous. See how we are after that and hopefully if we have done well we can start relaxing, ever so slightly 😀2

Tough game this one. Hoping for a battling draw but we need to weather the early pressure or we've seen what they can do. Whoever starts, we are going to have strong impact players on the bench, so if we stay level til the 70th minute...who knows.1

Battle of two organised defences where the game could be decided by the odd goal, could go either way, but feel we are well equipped to win this game, just need to take the chances when they present themselves...0

Scott Twine left on a free transfer because he turned down a new contract at Swindon. Agree that would've been the time to sign him.
Scott Twine the king of the free kick goal and who loves a long range goal has finally found a Championship team that see him as a regular 1st teamer when he joined Bristol City for a reported 4 million from Burnley. Twine had joined Burnley for a reported 4 million but an early injury held him back and he went out on loan for six months to Hull in August '22' before Bristol city from Jan '23' on loan.
Back in 21/22 Twine had his best goals return with 20 from 45 apps in League 1 with MK Dons. I believe it was this spell when posters on CL remarked he would be a good acquisition but he was already becoming out of our price range back then.
Charlton definitely don't want to give free kicks away around our box similar to the foul that Docherty committed against Watford.
Recently turned 26, Charlton fans were correct in their appraisal of the player. Lets hope he has a quiet game and is overshadowed by the Charlton 'stars'.

I had us down to win one and draw two of our first 3 games …. I think we can get something today all the pressure on them there going to have majority of procession and chances but I can see us being strong and sneaking a draw if not 1-0 win …
team selection one change for me would be Olaofe for Campbell1 -
Bedsaddick said:Gonna be tough after their result against Sheff Utd but The Championship , is anything but predictable. If city underestimation us and we are on our game i can definitely see us getting something .
My heart says a 1-1 draw my head says a narrow loss 2-1.1 -

In Charlton still !6 -
The longer the game is goalless the more confident I will be. I think that sort of game suits us. Even into added time last week, I thought we would score. Maybe last season changed the way I look at things.2

Get Anderson to man mark Twine? Think he could do a Keith Jones on him.6
-
All logic says a home win and we'll be reminded how big the step up is to the Championship.
But we have an abundance of match winners, so I'll go 0-1, with our goalscorer coming from the bench.0 -
The problem with Anderson man marking is he tends to give away fouls and that’s exactly where Twine can hurt you.Perhaps he can snap him in two in our half then, if he does recover, it’s a 50 yard free kick 🤭0

Is this watchable on the red button ?0

Think it will be a bit of a reality check today. 2-0 loss.2

Would you take a draw?
I'd take a point from this game, yes.
A 0-0 or 1-1 wouldn't cause any harm at all.
Good luck to our attending fans on the Bristol accent away day.
You might bump into Josie Gibson......
She is actually a Bristol fan0 -
I’m still firmly in the mindset that 21st will represent a successful season. It’s a massive step up from league one and as such we simply can’t expect to win every game.
This is one of the harder ones so I’m gonna be looking to see how close we can get to them. Expecting a defeat but hoping for a competitive showing.1 -
One of those games where I'm resigned to losing but hope we can hold out enough to grab a draw.
A win would be incredible but let's just keep it tight for 60 minutes and see what happens after that.1 -

I've talked myself into thinking we'll win this one.1

Bristol scored 4 goals last week from only 26% possession, 5 shots on target and an xG of only 1.33.
It's going to be a totally different game for them today, where they are likely to have the lion-share of possession.
Hopefully, we can be the ones picking them off on the break.0 -
Joining late to discussion-didn't Twine score 2/3 beauties against sat the Valley 3/4 seasons ago? Oxford won 4-0. He scored a wonderful free kick last week as well.
Tough match against potential promotion candidates? Hope we give them nothing( especially free kicks) and its competitive0 -
Kid on the coach reckons 0-1 Charlton. If that happens lets go into a rendition of 1-0 again ole ole.0
