  • Being reported here in Yorkshire that Wednesday are hoping to have a safety certificate in place for the north stand before the first home game.
    That’s a big bung

I’m not sure it was a leak.
  • Last thing the place needs now is an accident from an unsafe stand being used

I don’t think any safety issuing authority would risk getting it wrong.

    Are you certain?

In fairness, the stands do look quite safe...

In other words, did they manage to get the safety certificate?

I think they have to install lifebelts before that can open it.

Interview with Chris Powell on the situation there, just talking about the summary in the intro, and Sheff Wed sound a mess

Very confused interview from Powell I felt.  Saying you can't have a single owner of a club as when they get bored and stop putting money in it falls apart like it has at Wednesday but then lording the model at Wrexham and Birmingham as they have a plan... But surely both are entirely dependent on their owners, who, if they get bored will see the likely death of Wrexham and who knows for Birmingham.

This, and no doubt a flurry of deadline day signings probably loans and then a few free agents to try and give themselves half a chance of staying up. No way they're going bust, too big a club for that.

Sounds like they've got a couple of Man United kids coming in soonish on loan.

Suppose the idea is that with multiple owners you would likely have a contract in place between them meaning that a single owner can't simply 'pull out'.

Whereas a single owner is free to do whatever they want, whenever they want.

Interesting it seems their embargo is removed after they paid their players and the other foot all creators today.
Do those players who handed in their notice still get to walk or does that stop that?
Is the money from Chansiri / EFL or a takeover in the offing..?

both Wrexham and Birmingham have multiple owners.  Reynolds has barely over 65% ownership and McIlheny actually has a very small ownership percentage.  It is well known in the private equity circles in the US that reynolds was actively marketing more minority ownership to help fund the equity necessary to push for premier league promotion as he doesn’t want fund a substantial portion of the losses himself

I believe it's the first payment of the PL solidarity payment. Kicked the can down the road a little bit
  • Seems they are still under an embargo for paying fees.

    No

Sheffield Wednesday players and staff have received their outstanding wage payments.

Sky Sports News understands the Championship club were only able to do this after receiving their solidarity payment from the Premier League this week.

What the hell is a "solidarity payment from the Premier League" ? Never heard of it before.

Every club in the Championship receives a Premiership solidarity payment of about £5 million pounds per year excluding clubs on parachute payments.
This payment is severely reduced for League 1 and 2 teams.

They are the crumbs the EPL let fall from their table to keep the EFL in line.
