How many club owners do you think will vote to further restrict what they can spend and how they run their clubs. Because that is the only way to change the rules.golfaddick said:

The club is not paying staff, HMRC or clubs they owe transfer fees to. Surely that is worth more than a transfer embargo. When a new owner comes in they need to show that have adequate funds & source of those funds. If Chansari cant do that then they need to act. Whether that is a points deduction, relegation, being thrown out the League I dont know. But simply saying "nothing we can do" is a crock of shit
And if the rules aren't in place then put them there. It might be too late for SW but it will stop another club going down this route.....or we will be saying the same next season when Leicester, Wrexham or some other club gets into trouble.2 -

He has publicly said that he wants non playing staff to be paid before he takes a penny.
He obviously loves the club and I reckon he would take £7k a week in this situation and at this point in his career.I dislike the guy because of the spat with our player all those years ago but the noises he is making can only be commended.

He publicly said he wanted their staff to get their wages before he got his. When you're on 25k a week you can probably afford to defer your money a bit compared to a lot of staff who probably live paycheck to paycheck.LargeAddick said:

There’s now an independent regulator for a start. First thing I’d do if I were in charge is require owners to deposit a sum of money at the start of each season that guarantees they can fund the financial commitments and ensure they can start and complete the season. Failure to be able to do so means relegation. Tighten the rules on sponsorship to eliminate what Chansiri did and Deby tried. I’ve only just started.msomerton said:

I don't fully understand this sentiment when firstly the amount of Wednesday fans that have been concerned about this sort of thing and have stopped going and spending money over the years is huge and secondly we literally WERE punished by the EFL. We had points deducted which caused a relegation, we've been under embargo's repeatedly on and off for years. To me it highlights the unacceptable running of the club for years. Not many fans were celebrating that I can assure you, no matter how it looks.You stayed up by cheating that year and we played by the book and went down.You’ve got an owner who broke the rules to try and reach the riches of the premier league but it failed and you are now screwed. If your cheating worked and you got promoted to the premier league and your owner used the premier league riches to keep you there, I doubt a single Wednesday fan would have a bad word to say about the owner or care about the fake companies etc.

I think any of the people / consortia that were supposedly interested still are. It’s just all about timing now. Something has to give at some point and it’ll probably be too late to save Sheffield Wednesday from at least relegation and a few years in the wilderness. It’s looking like to me that Chansiri has just enough money or at least is willing to spend just enough money to keep the club alive and functioning while he tries to sell for a ludicrous amount. That’s will change as the money drains away. My understanding is that Hillsborough is not owned by the football club but by a company at least part owned by Chansiri. Even after he relinquishes control of the football club I can see him hanging onto the stadium and trying to continue to suck what I understand to be £2.5 million a year in rent. That’s could be a big stumbling block to any sale negotiation. Obviously @operationpig will know more but quite why Chansiri would want to sell Hillsborough is unclear to me. I think the company that owns Hillsborough is owed at least some back rent and charges an awful lot of money, reported to be £2.5 million a year for Wednesday to play there. He’s got the club by the short and curlies and judging by his valuation of the football club he’s unlikely to sell Hillsborough for a reasonable price when he can get £2.5 million a year income. I see that as being one of the biggest hurdles any buyer of the football club has to navigate. This will become even more of an issue if the club is relegated and income drops although I suppose there could be relegation clause reducing the rent ? Guessing here but I would also imagine that the football club are saddled with stadium upkeep costs which are as we know are significant with The North Stand not safe to use.
