Don't ask me, I don't know,,, but I kinda fancy a 1-0 win.2

All three results are a possibility.
Would be a tall order for a brand new lineup to come out of the traps and be immediately impressive…..that’s a lot to expect. 🤞0 -

back in the championship
Players will be fired up
NJ will be like a coiled spring
A good day for 3 points
2-1 and a great day all round
As I’ve said before, I think many Lifers are overestimating our squad against our oppositions’
However, we’re on a play off victory bounce and raring to go so I think we could do well in the first four - six games, even against Millwall. We need a win this Saturday, then another 8-10 points from the following five games.
With these 11-13 points from the first six games we will have a cushion for our almost inevitable autumn or winter slump to make our bid for survival foreseeable.0 -
This will be a cup tie type atmosphere similar to Wembley but probably sounding even louder ! I have no idea how we will perform but hopefully the players will play above themselves due to sheer adrenaline to ensure a first day victory. I’m going for 2-1 . I won’t even try & guess the scorers ! Watford will make it tough though. Taking my son in law ( Arsenal fan ) & 9 year old Grandson. I’m working on them both to get the Charlton bug !8

Supporters who have already purchased a ticket are advised to arrive early on Saturday to avoid queues at the turnstiles. With a 12.30pm kick-off, the club’s new and improved Fan Zone will open at 10am and will also be available for an hour after the game.0

I just got a very good feeling about this one tbh. Their is a great vibe around the club right now and I think we will get off to a good start.
2-1 win, Kelman and Apter.1 -

I can't imagine how i would feel if we were facing another season in L1, just happy that we have a season of the Championship to look fwd to, a good manager and a board which at long last are buying players and backing the manager. Just looking forward to a sunny packed Valley which should be rocking at 12.30. No idea what the final score will be, as its a new team... so here's hoping. COYA's5

We're going to get dicked 5-0 by Watford after all this optimism arent we...6

I’m thinking back to season starts like Southampton 5-0 and Man City 4-0 and I think the team will be carried by the fantastic atmosphere of a rocking Valley to win, not by so much, but 3-1.1

The RWB position is likely to be JRC according to sports mole. 1-1 the likely result.
What do they know at this stage though as they have Knibbs starting, which I doubt having not had a pre season to speak of.

I think we will nick this by the odd goal tbh.
the crowd will see us over the line.

Gisappointed said:Negatives: Stupid EFL play-off timetable has stuffed our pre-season, perhaps CONACAF also.
Injuries to key players; Godden, Burke, Berry, Leaburn. Niggles to Jones and Ramsay. Lack of gametime to Knibbs and Kelman. Leading to fitness catch-up. Probably five to seven starters.
Poor pre-season due to aforementioned play-offs with curious selections.
Still no WB cover.
Positives: Watford have new manager.
His grasp of English is tenuous at present.
Many of their forward buys have been relatively late, young, not prolific and probably sell-on punts if they work, rather than promotion signings.
Possibly a dangerous side, but the ideal time to play them.0 -
Very much in 'absolutely buzzing but shitting myself' mode this morning. An extended period of time away from the Championship has made me realise I genuinely don't know what to expect tomorrow. I've watched Champ games on the telly in recent years but not paid much attention to what the standard is really like. 5 years of park football has left me clueless as to how tomorrow will go.
Been longing for this day for so many years, and now I'm terrified5 -
What is the absolute maximum number of substitutes you’re allowed to bring on next season? Not counting games with extra time.
And if you’re allowed extra ones for head injuries, is there a maximum allowed for that?
I suppose I am thinking about finding out more about our squad, and how to keep non starters interested.0 -

I think Campbell starts in front of Tanto for now...0

I wonder how much Portsmouth, Oxford, Sheff Wed and Derby changed their side and managed to remain in the championship, also sides like Luton and Ipswich not only survived but went on to gain promotion to the premiership. Maybe we just need to believe, get behind the team, whatever happens, I can't wait, nice new shiny season ticket ready to go and early into Bartram's as I'm expecting it to be rammed.0

think it’ll take 4-6 weeks for us to really gel as a team in this division.
As has been demonstrated in a recent tournament, the Starting XI aren't always the match winners. The 5 game changers from the bench are as important from 65 minutes onwards, or earlier if anyone's having a mare or carrying a knock.
Last season especially from January we did have a starting XI that nearly picked itself but that was also because of injuries in midfield and forward positions.
We have more options and I expect the forwards and attacking midfielders to all get plenty of game time even if it's from the bench.
Nathan's gig and I'm intrigued to see how he gets the best out of Rob Apter because we really need him to be pro active in attacking positions with the ball.
All will be revealed.
