If all he needs to worry about is a few ppl moaning on a forum about him not giving fitness updates, would be a very blunt sword.eastterrace6168 said:
Fully understand Nathan's stance on some things, but us fans are as interested as him in the goings on within our club, and this includes players fitness, all this secret squirrel stuff is like a double edged sword...LargeAddick said:
Well you won’t be getting one from NJ, he likes to keep his cards very close to his chest.BigDiddy said:Squad fitness update required! If that’s how he wants to operate then all good with me.I get your point as I’d like to know too, but as long as he’s doing what he’s doing then all good8 -

One of the real dilemmas.DennisBooth said:Been impressed with Amari Bell. Very calm and solid. I think he will start ahead of Gillesphey. Although Gillesphey has done nothing wrong.
Gillesphey is great at big crossfield stuff and the free kicks and headers, Bell is very good at down the line stuff, composure and football intelligence.
Both are very credible selections, maybe it will depend (allowing for fitness) on who is picked around them, and what we make of opponents.
If Jones is absent for whatever reason I would pick Gillesphey.
Judging only by pre season I think Bell has been a very good squad addition indeed.1 -

Until someone who can score from a free kick actually steps up and shows us what he can do Gillesphey should be the first name on the team sheet after Lloyd Jones.soapboxsam said:DennisBooth said:Been impressed with Amari Bell. If Lloyd isn't 100% fit I would play Macca as the central CB with Ramsey the RCB and Bell the LCB. The Wembley hero needs to lose the shirt not have it taken from his back without being given a chance in the championship.3 -

Definitely. There is no benefit in letting Watford know who is fit and who isn’tLargeAddick said:

Why would you make public who’s available and who’s not? That’s essentially letting the oppo know who they should and shouldn’t worry about in advance and set up accordinglyeastterrace6168 said:

I would suspect with Jones yesterday is that in a league game he would run it off but in a friendly no risk is taken.8

That's why I said it's like a double edged sword, both positives and negatives, the negatives being us, you and me, left in the dark regarding how things are within our club.TheHerminator said:

Fair enough. But I’m not sure we as fans have any right to know who’s injured and who’s not do we?eastterrace6168 said:

Of course we don't want to give the opposition any assistance, I can see that...We can speculate and voice our opinions as we pay our money to watch week in week out. But the club don’t owe us any info on the individuals physical state2 -

This particular fan is more interested in winning games, and not providing the opposition with information in preparing to thwart us is a policy I agree with.eastterrace6168 said:

They still tell us the lineup an hour before the game.
What happened back in the 70's and 80's before the internet?
We don't need to know absolutely everything, how is it a double edged sword in any way?3 -

Well you seemed to get my point, but anyway, the negatives are the fans, us who are interested in our club, I assume I have that bit right, and show interest in match day threads, lineups etc, and notice absentees, whilst not knowing the reasons, that's all, not worth a major discussion.TheHerminator said:

The positives are of course keeping it away from the opposition, and I get that.."Double Edged Sword" = both positives and negatives to any argument...

Alex Mitchell being Jones’ cover does not given me any confidence whatsoeverForeverAddickted said:
Jones' replacement is probably Alex Mitchell.Bailey said:It does worry me slightly that Lloyd Jones is picking up knocks and his replacement would be Reece Burke who is an international standard 'knock' carrier.
Burke is Ramsay's cover.3 -

You’re kind of suggesting here that NJ is thinking: “oooh I don’t want to give anything away to the oppo but I do owe the fans an update”, which is a double edged sword.eastterrace6168 said:

my point is NJ owes us nothing of the sort. No club owes fans that much info. Therefore it’s not really a double edged sword is it? There no decision to be made0 -

If Lloyd isn't 100% fit I would play Macca as the central CB with Ramsey the RCB and Bell the LCB. The Wembley hero needs to lose the shirt not have it taken from his back without being given a chance in the championship.
He can keep the shirt if he's good enough in training and pre-season. I'd want the best players to get the result playing (that may or may not be Macca). Harsh as it is to say, in my view there's no place for sentimentality, even at the start of the season, when we could stay up or go down based on goal difference (or a single point like last time). If Macca is the best option then play him. If not 🤷♂️4 -

Fair enough...I'm just interested and curious in the things we don't know, and would like answers that's all, maybe I am expecting too much...🤷♂️TheHerminator said:

This is exactly NJ’s point. We live in a society where information is so readily available and that we want things instantaneously. So whilst he can control what is out in the public domain around fitness and injuries of players, he will. And rightly so. We are all interested and would like to know, but just because we’re supporters does not mean we are entitled to know anymore details than what NJ and the club are prepared to tell.

Neither are injury prone especially JRC he missed one friendly ?? … what is injury prone based on your comments Lloyd Jones is injury prone but still got voted POTY , Leaburn worst then both Burke and JRC over last 24 months is he injury prone …? players now days not playing 40 plus league games because of squad rotation , resting players etc etc ….yes we have had a few niggles and strains but that more to do with being late back to pre season and maybe pushing the players a little harder a little earlier then they would have liked … go back to last summer we hardly had any players injured during pre season ?MarcusH26 said:

Not believing this until Linda Fukuda follows the CAFC account12 -

Blackburn fans made it very clear that JRC had had injury issues when we signed him, Burke's record is hardly a secret either that he's not going to be available for every gameRonnieMoore said:

Different sport, but I never understand why England cricket reveal their Test team a day in advance, rather than at the coin toss as it always used to be. Why not keep the opposition guessing?sam3110 said:They still tell us the lineup an hour before the game.

Nathan Jones literally said after Southend there were no injuries from the game - so Jones will be fine for Saturday. It was precautionary.3
 -
If Jim is getting a rest for the minute could Fukuda’s deal be wrapped and just require announcing early next week? J League is mid season albeit looks to have had a mid-winter break so Fukuda would come in fully fit if we did sign him. Hope so as that RWB area remains light as things stand.2
