It does worry me slightly that Lloyd Jones is picking up knocks and his replacement would be Reece Burke who is an international standard 'knock' carrier.
Jones' replacement is probably Alex Mitchell.

    Burke is Ramsay's cover.
    I'm still worried then

If fit, Burke will play ahead of Mitchell. He can easily play in the centre of a 3.

In fact, when fit, Burke will likely start.

Over who? Jones and Ramsay were arguably the best 2 players we had last season

I don’t think we need him, but Kone not even on the bench for Wycombe today.

He’s not gone anywhere yet has he?
Been quite strongly linked to PNE, so I presume that's in the offing and explains his absence.
Swansea have had 2 bids rejected. Leicester were the latest club to have been involved. I really can’t see Preston spending the millions that it will take for Wycombe to part ways with him. He’ll go to a top half Championship club at least.

New article on RCs Substack - Jones doesn’t rule out a 10th signing but talks about giving Jim Rodwell a rest, which suggests we’re pretty much done on incomings after that.

Burke is a better defender than either of Jones and Ramsay. That’s not a slight on either by the way. If Burke was not injury prone he wouldn’t be with us. Certainly his minutes will need to be managed but when he’s fit he be right up there for selection.

Pleased for Ahadme that he scored a brace but it was a friendly against a National league side and if anyone was being serious about him suddenly being a contender up front in the Championship then give your head a shake.
Hopefully it gets Gassan a loan move to a league 2 club where I do believe in the right team he could be successful.

NJ would need to change his opinion on Ahadme for him to be in a cafc match day 20.

No L2 or most L1 sides for that matter could even afford his wages. Unless Plymouth come in for him there’s no way we can get him off the books. Judging Ahadme off the start of the season where let’s be fair most players weren’t doing well should be considered. Doesn’t mean I think he will be the second coming of Christ but personally think he needs an opportunity in this new system can see he works much better off players like Apter. Even if he’s just average at best giving Kanu and Mbick loans by having Ahadme as cover will be big for their development

I assumed it was a Shay Given that we would've to pay 50% of Gassan's wages if it's a League 2 loan. 🤷🏻‍♂️
If it was Bolton in the 3rd tier then a lesser % could be agreed and then if Ahadme had a good spell then his career could be reassessed by Nathan.
Picking the very raw Mbick ahead of him for the bench was very telling at the business end of last season.

Only 45 managed minutes for a player we paid a fee for is already a bit of a worry IMO.

Been impressed with Amari Bell. Very calm and solid. I think he will start ahead of Gillesphey. Although Gillesphey has done nothing wrong.

A gamble that Jones and Abbott thought worthwhile but you’re right though. I think if we get twenty games equivalent out of him it’ll have been worth it. Problem is those games will be in bits and pieces and I’ll doubt we’ll see him in a run of games which isn’t ideal.

I agree on this one. Feels harsh on macca, but bell seems to have a bit more pace which should be useful in the champ.

I’ve never been so excited to sign so many players that I hadn’t heard of until about three weeks ago.
Surely you’ve heard of most of them apart from Fakuda
Mostly no. I’m a very inattentive football fan. I access it in much the same way an 18 month old baby would, looking at the movement of the colours and shapes and occasionally crying and shitting myself.
Very amusing Uboat - and reflects my approach too. I think I had only heard of Kelman and that is because we played against him at Wembley.

Jones mentioned that Burke is back in full training so we’ll hopefully see him involved shortly.

Should start against Stevenage in the cup….plus I’d like to see Ahadme start in that game too so we see if yesterday was a one off or whether he can play a part for us.

In my opinion it is fair to say that Ahadme only ever played for us when we were shite & played a system where forwards got zero service. Our season only got going last year when we changed the set up & started playing Small on the right (and now Apter) giving us something going forward. Ahadme has never had a chance since that happened.

We played that way against Preston in the cup, which is where they made up their mind to go all out for Small.

Ahadme started that evening and put in the same performance as he had done every single other time. That was the last time we saw him last season, and we tried to get him out on loan thereafter but he decided against it.

I don’t see a way where he suddenly becomes a Championship option for us when we have Godden, Kelman, Leaburn, Olaofe, and TC all in front of him, at least. Even with Godden and Leaburn’s injuries/fitness currently, I don’t see how he gets into the matchday squad.

If the opposition has a player sent off then Ahadme would be a handy substitute to bring on to goal hang.

Yeah that one bundled goal in the league below was valuable

Have got to say, I’ve been so impressed with our business this summer. Okay we missed out on a couple, Offiah being one of them, and one where I think our business would be complete now if he joined. But to sign 9 players, all of which improves our team and squad, without losing anyone that we didn’t expect, is outstanding.

Now is definitely time to bring in the wing back, hopefully Fukuda, and we can start to let some fringe players leave either permanently or on loan. We must have about 30 players now once everyone is available.

Just trying to catch up with put current injury list- can anyone update, especially if any of our new signings are out injured? Also read that Ahadme played well and deserves to stay.

Any updates on any more ins, outs or injuries would save me hours thumbing through the forums !

He will almost certainly be in the 20 in Saturday given Leaburn and Godden are not ready.

We all love Ramsey and Jones and both lads were immense last season but it's hard to disagree with your views on Reece Burke who has played at a higher level than both our stars of last season. Kayne and Lloyd were at top clubs in Southampton and Liverpool respectively but had to do the loan circuit to forge a professional career and drop down divisions when they were released.

If and it's a big IF seeing the games Burke missed through injuries over the last couple of seasons, he certainly appear good enough for the 2nd tier but how many games will he be fit to play ?

Could be a major player 🤞🏼

Fully understand Nathan's stance on some things, but us fans are as interested as him in the goings on within our club, and this includes players fitness, all this secret squirrel stuff is like a double edged sword...

If Lloyd isn't 100% fit I would play Macca as the central CB with Ramsey the RCB and Bell the LCB. The Wembley hero needs to lose the shirt not have it taken from his back without being given a chance in the championship.
