Not expecting any more expensive signings. Maybe one or two loans, or "projects" like Tovide, who are not expected to impact the first team this season. We're basically done.
Question marks over Gillesphey and Carey. If they are not up to it, maybe try to improve on them in January, but I am backing Enslin to be ready by then, and maybe Anderson.
If our rich owners still have money burning holes in their pockets, then a 5m pound striker would be nice, but I am not expecting that of them. They have done great. And if Leaburn recovers full form and fitness, even that might be superfluous.12 -

what are they?ShootersHillGuru said:0 -
Given our recent history, I never would call myself Happy Valley, although it was a very good TV series. I did have a previous moniker but got banned for HoC opinions. Other posters have made the connection. I thought I was fairly mild these days.wolfgang said:

Edgy? It is a combination of Yosser Hughes "gis a job" and the fact that B4 Xmas we couldn't buy a point, for which I was disappointed.2 -
True, but in the absence of Claus Jensen… I wouldn’t pick that midfield either - it would be Coventry plus 1, maybe the Blackburn guy but I’d not heard of him before last week .CAFCsayer said:
Zero creativity in that midfield and would get walked through. Don't think there is any chance we see a midfield two of Doc and Coventrywmcf123 said:Kaminski
Burke, Jones, Gillesphey
Ramsay, Docherty, Coventry , Edwards
Apter, Godden, Alaofe.
That’s not necessarily what I would do but that’s what I think it will be .0 -
Not sure if you are being ironic or notIR94 said:

Is it me or has the media team at charlton really fallen off a hill? Has there been many interviews with recent signings? I might have missed them but hardly heard from any of them17

If we’re talking formations, I think we peaked in the 96/97 season when Brendan O’Connell was bought in and described as ‘the man in the hole’
Everything since has never matched those tactical heights5 -
Id like us to sign Hindolo Mustapha. At 19 we could get away with not starting him but he seems a monster (without having seen him play). The JRS loan could put us in a good place.
He seems to be a 6, 8 or 10.5 -
We'll be fine, as its Home Grown e.g. Came through an Academy in England, rather than a requirement to come through the Academy at the club in question, so its only Kaminski, Edwards, Docherty and maybe one other not eligibleShootersHillGuru said:3 -
It was a shame that when he was in the hole that we didn’t fill it in.cabbles said:If we’re talking formations, I think we peaked in the 96/97 season when Brendan O’Connell was bought in and described as ‘the man in the hole’

Q and A with Carey and Apter this week.000__Jaaaaay__000 said:Is it me or is the media team at charlton really fallen off a hill? Has there been many interviews with recent signings? I might have missed them but hardly heard from any of them2 -
That's exactly why there is a question mark. Once we have watched him start a dozen games for us, we will know whether he can do what is required.IR94 said:

The doubt over Gillesphey is different. We have watched him plenty. The question there is whether he will start this season like he finished the last one or like he started it.0 -
When you're signing free transfers from Swindon and MK Dons, then hyping up the players with flashy videos and interview pieces becomes more important...000__Jaaaaay__000 said:Is it me or is the media team at charlton really fallen off a hill? They only have their mobile phones out in Slovenia 🇸🇮000__Jaaaaay__000 said:Is it me or is the media team at charlton really fallen off a hill? Has there been many interviews with recent signings? I might have missed them but hardly heard from any of them

I imagine that departures (both permanent and loans) will start to be more frequent once the Slovenia tour is over. I imagine we'll already have a list of those who must stay, those we want to move on but also a few who perhaps could go either way and will decide on later on.Callumcafc said:

For example (pure hypothetical) maybe we know that we want to loan out one of Mbick or Kanu but we haven't decided which. Or maybe Jones wants to see Z. Mitchell in action to decide if he's ready for the first team or better off getting games elsewhere etc.1 -

They are sorely missed. I could sleep well on Friday nights knowing that we would win 4-0 the next day, home or away.
My apologies.3 -
A Cruyff diamond then. No way we’ll play a formation as open as that.wolfgang said:MarcusH26 said:Thinking 3412 might be what starts the season

We’ve strengthened the squad in a way that means we should have good attacking threats on the bench. I can’t see Jones trying to fit them all into the starting 11.

Exactly. The money saved would be trivial compared with what we are splashing out on fees and wages these days. And we could negate any savings by making a hasty and incorrect decision. When we were desperate for every penny (no, not him!) we lost money by having to let promising players go on frees.Callumcafc said:

The only three players where we would save substantial amounts on wages (Berry, Alex Mitchell, Ahadme) might be expensive to shift, as they will nowhere near match their present contracts elsewhere.0 -
It has, but tbf, I would rather see us sign promising/good players and have hardly any media, than milk the singings of some of the shit we have signed in the past.000__Jaaaaay__000 said:Is it me or has the media team at charlton really fallen off a hill? Some of our media has been cringe over absolutely terrible players the last few years.
In an ideal world we would get some media, but if there are others priorities that outweigh media days, I am happy to go without a few videos.6 -
Great seeing comments like this from Blackpool fans

This. I think the quality of what they have produced has been a level up compared to recent seasons. I’m also pretty sure the rapid fire nature of the close season signings, kit reveals, Slovenia trips, Bluewater shop etc means they’ve been pretty busy!Braziliance said:

What next we send them Alex Mitchell on loan?0

I would rather they train and spend time developing an understanding and creating friendships with new team mates and staff. During their spare time I hope they are looking for houses to live in, schools for kids and possibly jobs for wife/partner. Happy at home/happy at work.000__Jaaaaay__000 said:Is it me or has the media team at charlton really fallen off a hill? Has there been many interviews with recent signings? we can hear from them in August once the season has started
