Not directly linked to us but Charlton legend Josh Keeley is joining Luton on loan, poor Luton haven’t just had their keeper stolen by us but he’s been replaced by the softest wrists in the land
To be fair, other than flappiness at corners, Keeley was very good for Orient. I imagine they would have wanted him  back.
Yeah he was just poor against us for some reason, both at their place and for the Wembley goal
Nah, he was just useless and beaten by the guile and wisdom of Macca at Wembley that's about it....🙄

If we are serious on squad depth I think an interesting punt would be to look at Brandon William's to compete on the left side and leave Bell and Macca to compete at LCB.

He's on a free but has proven quality playing for Utd and impressed on loan at Ipswich. A good amount of experience and played plenty of championship football.

He's clearly had a tough time with his legal issues but he seems remorseful, sensible and eager to get his career back on track. At his age and pedigree he could be a great signing and one we could also make a lot of money on trading him down the line. The left side would be looking really strong

The other player i'd love on loan but don't think it's likely is Tyler Morton the CDM from Liverpool again a quality player proven at this level, ENG U21 winner. Liverpool seem open to him moving on but looks like West Ham like (maybe one on loan if he doesn't get a move)

The bloke has a suspended prison sentence and does balloons in his car on Snapchat I couldn’t think of a worse player fit for a NJ team if I tried. .
Yeah I think he's been open that he suffered with his mental health and depression, clearly he made a big mistake he's trying to recover from. I personally understand those challenges and my nature would be to believe in and try and help someone in that position.

My point was it would be a punt but one that would be relatively cheap and could have a big upside if he's got himself back on track.

His wage demands are probably too high for us and sadly I reckon there are champ sides that would pay more than we would be willing to.

if he seriously wants to get his career back on track, NJ would be a perfect man to help.

In terms of football style I think he is. Perfect fit for a Jones team.  As above, I think Jones could also be very good for him.
However I doubt Jones would want to take the risk, and I think Williams will go abroad as he has mentioned that.

Yes he is. He used to post on here as Happy Valley then decided to change his persona to make it more edgy.

That’s not necessarily what I would do but that’s what I think it will be .
Zero creativity in that midfield and would get walked through. Don't think there is any chance we see a midfield two of Doc and Coventry

Basically the same system we played last season, the 352 definitely still had a 10

If you're playing 343 I wouldn't say you want/need much creativity in central midfield as there are plenty of attacking options to do that anyway.

Yeah essentially the same as last season. I'm just not convinced yet by a 343 or a 3421 as being quite viable.

Can't see us lining up with a back 4 unless it's somewhere away from home where we want to be really tight.
  • I tried coaching a 343 last season and it's a really hard formation to get the balance right with.

If you play a double pivot you can build a solid base with 5 back, and be water-tight in the centre of the pitch, but you need super athletic wing backs to stop you getting hurt down the wide channels. The CM's have a lot of responsibility as they have to be able to progress the ball and to also not get overrun with only 2 in the middle possibly against three.

Going forward you can play with 2 10's like Amorim saw success with (effectively the 3421) or wide forwards if you play with 10's its even more demanding on the WB's. I personally couldn't get the balance right, we were too open out wide and I reverted to an inverted 433.

Obviously NJ and team will be a able to a much better job than me, but i'd be worried about a repeat of last season's slow start getting used to that formation. I'd rather we stuck to the wonky 352 personally but some of the signings don't seem to fit that shape.

                  Coventry
          JRC                    Edwards

         Apter                 Olaofe/Campbell

                  Godden/Leaburn

Not expecting any more expensive signings. Maybe one or two loans, or "projects" like Tovide, who are not expected to impact the first team this season. We're basically done.

Question marks over Gillesphey and Carey. If they are not up to it, maybe try to improve on them in January, but I am backing Enslin to be ready by then, and maybe Anderson.

If our rich owners still have money burning holes in their pockets, then a 5m pound striker would be nice, but I am not expecting that of them. They have done great. And if Leaburn recovers full form and fitness, even that might be superfluous.
