If a club offered us a biggish fee for one of our stars, say £5m for Ramsey or L Jones, would our owners say no-way?0

I’ve thought for a while selling players for a big profit is part of their plan, with some of the money used to increase our budget.thewolfboy said:If a club offered us a biggish fee for one of our stars, say £5m for Ramsey or L Jones, would our owners say no-way?
Clearly they’re not throwing money around like some other clubs, so selling for a profit is how we’ll bridge the gap at this level.0 -
I guess that all the players (or the better ones) have a price. If there's a silly offer, they'd be silly not to take it, assuming there's time to replace.thewolfboy said:If a club offered us a biggish fee for one of our stars, say £5m for Ramsey or L Jones, would our owners say no-way?0 -

Preston get their man, at last...TobyCAFC said:

So he has heard it for Charlton but he thinks we are prioritising Burke?TobyCAFC said:

Yeah I'd take it as we have been interested but Burke is the No1 target0
-
Can probably rule that one out then as I can't see us bringing in 2 more centre backs, and Burke sounds absolutely nailed on.7

Luton Town fans pretty much universally saying he is their best defender - which he should be bearing in mind his pedigree. But they also say - 'he's never fit'. As we would say if it were someone who is injury prone for us, they are all betting the house away that he will come to us and NJ gets 40 games out of him.
It does always go like that when a player leaves who was injured for you.3 -
Think the outs might be an indicator as currently I'd have it asBraziliance said:Can probably rule that one out then as I can't see us bringing in 2 more centre backs, and Burke sounds absolutely nailed on.
Ramsay/Burke/Z Mitchell/Josh Laq, Jones/A Mitchell/Burke, Gillesphey/Bell
If we shifted Alex Mitchell you might need another with Lloyd and Burke having injury issues and Ramsay potentially needed at RWB.
Tricky one to balance and I wouldn't want to be in Chapple or NJs shoes 🤣🤣2 -
I think if Burke joins then at least one of the Mitchell’s will be moved on. Might want to give Zach a loan rather than be 6th choice so maybe Alex stays as emergency backupMarcusH26 said:

Considering Burke and Bell injury history can see us keeping all 6 centrebacks just to be safe. Jones and Zach the only centrebacks mobile enough I’d trust to play in the middle and I’d rather not have A left or right footer playing on the opposite side. 2 centrebacks fighting for 1 position each definitely seems enough whilst not being overcrowded. Guarantees Ramsay as a RWB for next seasonNabySarr said:

You want your more mobile centre backs on the outside? Look at some of the wingers in this leagueCrispywood said:

Right: Ramsay, Burke or a Mitchell
Middle: Jones, Burke or Gillesphey middle
Left: Gillesphey or Bell
I don’t think Ramsay will play RWB, he’s much better at centre back. Maybe against the top sides in the league if we want to be ultra defensive, but we will need more going forward from RWB than Ramsay has to offer3 -

Nope, not equal. I have 3 promotes, bow down to me and treat me with the respect I deserve 😂swordfish said:
I don't see why promotes are given as they're purely subjective. Why should the opinion of whoever awards them be shown to carry more weight than others? Stick to likes. We're an online community of equals, not one where some are more equal than others (or they shouldn't be).stoneroses19 said:
It hurts to have been here since 2007 and never written a promote-worthy post 😢KiwiValley said:
please disregard @stoneroses19’s comments . Less than 20,000 visits here and no promotes (a whiff of the North about ‘em n all).stoneroses19 said:For the sake of those who don't have Twitter/X, sometimes it would be helpful for original posters to mention who the person they are posting here is. Too many times, a discussion starts and then it turns it's a bloke bored in there bedroom with less than 250 followers.Appreciate those who call out that it's a fake rumour etc.
I haven't feasted as much on humble pie as some get through on here, but I can thoroughly recommend the sour grapes 😉
Three? THREE?
That's ok then

From the very limited transfer rumours we’ve had we’ve been linked with Burke, Offiah, Ross, Mbengue how true those last 2 are it’s up for debate but the fact we’ve only been linked with RCB’s rather than out and out wingbacks makes me thinks that’s what Jones wants to do.NabySarr said:

Galbraith was a wing back ?0

With the exception of CBT and May who were sold for different reasons ( mainly wanting moves) the new owners haven’t sold anyone of note . In fact a lot of people were convinced Leaburn would be sold last summer .Scoham said:

Im not saying the owners will splash money like Birmingham (who will ?) but I think people sometimes underestimate their wealth.6 -

Seems we’ve gone for defensive recruits to start with, which is great. Save for Tanto and Carey, any ideas on mf or attacking targets?3

Terry Taylor. Injured for us, player of the year when on loan, now injured for us again. Although it’s fair to say when Terry Taylor returns he will be like a new signing.Southbank said:

Does not seem to be many names in the public domain in these area but I wonder if we are still in for Liam Thompson? He's turned down a new deal at Derby and would be a hell of a signing for us I thinkValley11 said:Seems we’ve gone for defensive recruits to start with, which is great. I wasn’t criticising a lack of spending or suggesting they don’t have much money, I was only saying at I think part of the plan is to sell players for a big profit. Get it right then that’s a good thing as it only happens if players are performing to a level where they attract big offers, and it means the club is more sustainable rather than requiring big injections of cash from the owners every season.MintoHumbugs said:

I know we only utilized Alan Campbell as a loan last season and NJ isn’t a fan, but one or two in the JRS/Gallagher and Josh Cullen mould would be a real bonus imo2

I think that may have been the Scott/Methven plan.Scoham said:

We are now in the Jones plan era.
Of course we will sell players (when haven't we?) but not in a Roland way.2
