Watched Ben Dawkins hit 60ish yesterday for England u19s, looked very useful. Looking forward to him being in the main team
Presumably we will be announcing that he has signed a professional contract soon given that the 50 over comp starts in a few weeks time. Without one he can't play.
Getting the good news in early. First Compton then Dudgeon. From 1st June, those out of contract at the end of the season have been able to talk to other counties. Some will be let go anyway but there are probably a few that it would be good to hear that they have signed new contracts too.
Fantastic signing. Hopefully he can stay fit and you can add a batsman on a similar deal.
Makes me wonder if Wes won't be back.
Can't see why he would be. Seems like a lovely guy but his performances haven't been up to scratch
Yes, he's been a massive disappointment this season.
Not making excuses because he has but I think he's struggled to find any rhythm or consistency. He hadn't played for almost four months when he arrived this season whereas last year the differential in seasons between Aus and here was a matter of a few weeks. Some players can step straight off a plane whereas others need a pre-season to do so. The other issue is the fact that we are using him to switch from one format to the other - each requires different lengths, lines and skillsets. Kashif Ali only players CC and Tom Rogers only does the Blast so they can concentrate on just that.
Wicketkeeper-batter Ben Dawkins will travel with the squad to Hove to gain experience of being around the first-team environment.
Chris Benjamin sustained a dislocated shoulder earlier in the tournament, and following assessment and advice from specialists, the right-hander wanted to explore returning to play in season. After a period rehabilitation and hard work, he has made himself available for selection. He will be closely monitored moving forward considering a longer-term plan for full rehabilitation work.
Zak Crawley is unavailable due to international commitments with England. Grant Stewart has also been selected by Italy for their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier campaign, and will return to Kent after the end of their final qualifier against the Netherlands on 11 July.
Kent almost conspired to chuck that away chasing 148. Terrible death bowling from Ollie Robinson and an excellent knock from Joey Evison on an absolute pudding of a pitch weirdly for Hove.
Great innings from Evision to beat Sussex. We were 110-8 chasing 149 and he ended up 48* off 24 balls to get us home by 2 wickets with 3 balls to spare. He also returned figures of 4-0-28-1.
Hate how little interest there was in that. Evison is a talent
The ECB are fucking up the Blast with all these random days of the week games. Wednesday night and most schools haven't broken up yet for summer and you'll get bad attendances.
We have three games left and all are at home - to the top team Somerset and then Middlessex and Essex who have zero chance of qualifying. We might well have to win all three to do so though.

Somerset without Matt Henry too. Although the form they're in....
Great finish. Nice to see Joey in form in this format after some good knocks in red ball this year.
However, the Sussex YouTube feed had some infiriatingly timed adverts. Not noticed it on other blast streams so either a new initiative or a Sussex thing. Very annoying

Makes me wonder if Wes won't be back.
Wes Agar’s visa issues have now been resolves and he re-enters the squad to replace Jaydn Denly, as the left-hander prepares for England U19s’ Youth Test against India U19s at The County Ground, Beckenham this coming weekend.

Should all be Friday night.
If I could adopt him, I would.
Just think .....
