Brighton used to sing
When the ball hits the back of the net it's Zamora
But he wasn't as successful when he joined Spurs
They used to sing
When the ball hits the back of row z it's Zamora.2 -

Liking these signings so far…starting to feel quietly confident that we will be in the mix for mid table in our 1st season back…looking up rather than down…👍1

Spoke to my Luton supporting mate - Mr GPT. Good feedback:
"Fair play, Charlton have pulled off a tidy one there. Bell’s been class for us overall – came in when we were pushing for promotion and played a massive part in getting us up. In the Prem he struggled a bit at times (who didn’t?), but his work rate and attitude were spot on.
Last season back in the Champ, he was solid again – maybe not quite as explosive as a couple years ago, but still reliable, experienced, and can slot in either as a left-back or left-sided centre-back in a back three. Doesn’t get flustered, defends well, and gives you a good outlet going forward.
Honestly, if you’re building a side to stay up or push on, he’s exactly the kind of steady head you want in the dressing room. Gutted to lose him, but makes sense if we needed to cut the wage bill. Treat him well!"

Sounds like a sensible move to provide depth and competition for Josh and Macauli'i. Grand.9

I realise you were not criticising, with a perhaps limited budget it makes sense for Chapple and Jones to go with players they know.

I guess Nick Owens TV AM money wasn’t going to last forever.
As well as the Eric Morecambe inheritance.

Charlton Town have struck again in Bedfordshire (just like last season) greater Manchester and Blackpool.
The fact is we have signed two players from a relegated Championship defence, so hopefully we have signed the best two, in a keeper and a left sided defender.
Wide forward, attacking midfielder, left sided defender and a Keeper so the next one in will surely be a RWB.

Blimey...Just seen Bell has signed.....he was pretty awful last year but previously been very good...suits Jones three man defence as he plays on left....he got a lot of clangers in his locker though. The keeper is good...great shotvstopper been player of the.year for past two-years. People say he does not command his box well but he is good signing
That a contract extension for Gillesphey was announced on the same day as Bell signs is interesting, and maybe a way of showing that Gillesphey has the shirt.4 -

Said it a few times on the Expectations thread, we're not going to be exciting to watch, doubt we'll get plaudits from opposition fans for the way we play at times, expect us to be pretty gritty, but reckon we'll get the job done12 -

Our very own Eyeore:
Eeyore is a fictional character in the Winnie-the-Pooh books by A. A. Milne. He is an old, grey stuffed donkey and friend of the title character, Winnie-the-Pooh. Eeyore is generally characterised as pessimistic, depressed, and anhedonic (the inability to experience pleasure from activities that would normally be enjoyable.)
He also knows bugger all about football.13 - Sponsored links:

Last season was not about attractive football.
Won all but one game when we took the lead, the other being the draw at Blackpool.
Last season was about doing what was needed to go up, next season is doing what is needed to survive, any way we can.10 -

That's not a criticism either, as promotion was everything, but a neutral wouldn't choose to watch us.2 -

On occasions:
Away at Wycombe and Northampton, plus the Huddersfield home match. A few others gave us a tingle 😀0 -

Seems too short to be a LCB and too slow to be a LWB. Having played in the Prem, wont be cheap wages. I'd prefer a LCB with pace who will put MG on bench. Fawemo would have been my preference, or spend some money.4
