Sheffield Wednesday - players and staff paid late 2 months in a row (p7)

think i read they have 15 days to pay them ,once they received the plyers notice to quit1

At this point with another payday missed and no genuine buyer in the frame. Players handing in their notice, you have to wonder quite when The EFL are going to ask and demand an answer to the question : Is their funding until the end of the season ? Wednesday starting their season and running out of cash which appears to have happened already is a disaster waiting to happen.3

Players have begun to hand their notice in.
We probably have a good guess who they are0 -
It’s a real shame. A club with a wonderful history, apart from the bribery stuff in the 60s, come to this.2

I thought Derby were toast and could not see how they would be saved but they survived. Wednesday will too. Maybe they get relegated but they are large enough they will return.1

Or because it's got to this point and notice is handed in that's it?0 -

since our relegation from the Prem we’ve heard so much about teams chasing the dream chasing the Premier League millions, pretty sure Richard Murray always spoke about how so many clubs were gambling with there futures but for the best part of 20 years Bury really have been the only team to drop out of the EFL and that’s hardly through rolling the dice. Other teams have survived by hook or by crook but Wednesday are too big to go under. Relegation and points deduction maybe, administration maybe but teams like Derby and Sheff Weds just don’t go bust.1 -

if the player doesn't accept that breach
Or because it's got to this point and notice is handed in that's it?
If they are paid within the 15 day period then the club regain control of the contract and they cannot leave for free (FIFA regulations). If they are not then it is a repudiatory breach of contract and it is then terminated with immediate effect if the player does not accept the breach - they can still claim damages for any wages missed.5 -

There's no way Sheff Weds go under, they will 100% finish the season and almost certainly be relegated.1

Was going to say they'll just play whoever left and the youth team, but the youth team have started moving on too by the looks of it:

Something we should be aware of, feels a bit ghoulish acting like vultures over a struggling club, but if they've got other promising youngsters who are going to leave and move somewhere, then why should only other clubs benefit?0 -

Hope it doesn't happen tbough - don't like Wednesday much but no fans deserve to have their club ripped apart because of the actions of an owner.

Sheffield Wednesday have hardly been chasing the dream either. Their spend on transfers and wages has hardly been excessive when compared with the clubs around them.
It's not sustainable, but that applies to nearly every team in the Championship.0 -
I too, am in the camp that they will not go bust/kicked out of the league.
Chansiri will stump up wages at the last second to stop the players with any residual value from being allowed to go for nothing.
He has basically just got an extra two weeks to pay the players5 -

6 players have handed in notices, Wednesday still owe Norwich the transfer fee for Famewo and Southampton the loan fee and wages for Shea Charles.
What a utter mess.1 -

The EFL should go back over last season & redo the table, deducting points SW gained by playing those players. That should be enough to relegate them.
Otherwise whats stopping us from signing Cole Palmer & simply not paying Chelsea the fee. (Extreme example but you get the point). Its called cheating the system.3 -

The EFL get all high and mighty over minor issues but back off the serious stuff.
SW lied and cheated last time and actually refused to pass over their accounts and all they did was plead and beg them to. They eventually did when it was no longer possible to relegate them, and even stated this was why they hadn’t handed them over earlier!
They have to get a grip.
They need to have clear rules setting out fines and points deductions for any financial irregularities like not paying R&C, players, other Clubs, and suppliers etc. Not providing accounts etc etc.
You set the punishment and the appeal system can mitigate.
Football needs to stop Clubs like SW, Derby and now Hull cheating. Robust rules that deny promotion or relegate Clubs is the best way of protecting those Clubs very existence.

Local paper is reporting that the entire coaching staff other than the manager had their contracts lapse at the end of June, making them free agents. And that one has already signed up with a new employer. Unless I'm mis-remembering, I don't think that even happened to Derby?

Sheffield Wednesday must surely start the season with a points deduction.
Only question is how many4 -

Dont like the ‘Massives’ but either way any pts deduction needs to be sorted soon and that also equates to Leicester and possibly Hull
Any chance Scumwall as well…1 -

Feel sorry for them but if we finish one place above relegation due to them having points deducted, as harsh as it sounds, I'll take it.8
