No, that was for going into admin. The embargo was for failing to pay players, separate punishment.North Lower Neil said:
Isn't that why the points penalty was introduced?Stu_of_Kunming said:It will be an absolute joke if their embargo’s are lifted upon a sale, making it absolutely fine to cheat, as long as you sell the club.
For failing to provide proof of funds, we still paid players afaikswordfish said:
Weren't we under a transfer embargo that was lifted post ESI?Stu_of_Kunming said:It will be an absolute joke if their embargo’s are lifted upon a sale, making it absolutely fine to cheat, as long as you sell the club.1 -
That’s not quite right, there are three different issues attached to Wednesday. The points deduction is for going into admin. They effectively have 4 embargoes in place, each one means they cannot add to their playing staff costs, these are
- Regulation 16.21.8 - Future Financial Information
- P&S Rule 2.10.3 - Secure Funding
- Regulation 17.3 - HMRC Reporting
- Article 48.1 - Football Creditors
Once any new owner resolves these, they are lifted. Essentially it means they can sign players who are out of contract. They also have a fee restriction in place for the next three windows. That is the punishment for not paying players on time. They cannot pay transfers or loan fees until the 2027 summer window. That can be appealed - so there is potential wiggle room there although I’m not sure what grounds they would appeal on.0 -
They'd appeal on the grounds that they are new owners, can pay on time and shouldn't be restricted because of a previous owner's misdemeanors. They'll probably argue it isn't their fault, and bring in fair competition and how football should be a level playing field blah blah blahSomervilleAddick said:That’s not quite right, there are three different issues attached to Wednesday. The points deduction is for going into admin. They effectively have 4 embargoes in place, each one means they cannot add to their playing staff costs, these are- Regulation 16.21.8 - Future Financial Information

Would be odd if there's no time limit on an appeal, you'd imagine that would have passed too. Of course it is the EFL we're talking about0

Spot on and they will probably win any appeal.sam3110 said:
