Rayner refuses to save historic beer garden in Greenwich0

Pretty ridiculous headline. It's not a historic pub garden, it's extra tables they have put on a public path.9

It's not a historic pub garden, it's extra tables they have put on a public path. That said, I actually think RBG should work with them and find a way to make this work. There’s more space around where the tables / benches are than further on as you head towards the Cutty Sark, centre of Greenwich. If people can navigate that part, then the pub area should be fine. And in reality, it’s not like this is a year round issue. Although with this climate warming…🥵 😉5

The pub owner is certainly milking the publicity implying it's their bit of land.0

It was on BBC News I think the other day.It does feel like the council are being petty / awkward when there isn’t an obvious issue.0

Beautiful historic building but had a horrific pint of guiness before the Lincoln game. Ridiculous decision but essentially a pub for the tourists.

Had my wedding reception at the Trafalgar…the tables outside don’t seem to interfere with the walkway…it’s lovely to see people enjoying the weather outside on those tables…shame3

There's no doubt the extra seating creates a bottleneck on busy weekends. It's an area where people have always stood to admire the view in both directions.
The owner also has form for appropriating areas that are not his. He's done it with his previous pubs which is probably why the council are not being very sympathetic.4
