  • Does this mean we are signing Ledley King next season, was he on that list emailed to AFKA?
    Pre-season friendly with Real Madrid?

But born in Greenwich, lived in Charlton, went to school in Charlton, and worked in Woolwich....... Anyway, you only just qualify being about a mile from where I live. I once lived alongside Blackheath, near the pond and that was Lewisham council. Mind you. Lewisham/Greenwich/Bexley not exactly without there faults are they?

Sadly on this evidence you are a quitter!
No Royal band-waggon jumping for you, sir!

  • I've just had a horrible thought, when I was born in the mid 60's I think the part of today's LBG was actually the London Borough of Woolwich. So I may not be the full blue blooded Greenwich citizen I thought.
  • I'll be there for the fireworks on Sunday night, should be good. I'm from Bexley but Greenwich was my favourite place as a kid, well the Cutty Sark and the Thames barrier anyway. I was a very easily pleased child ha ha

Cue Keith Peacock holding scarf aloft at Bernabeu....
  • When you're already a lord, these things matter little.

    :-)
  • If only he was still alive, perfect for Greenwich, maybe even Mayor of London.

Yes, you may have something there Floyd, my name derived from ken from 'bexley village' as I used to ring up, 'Charlton Live' often in a state of 'anxiety' in those dreadful years when we slipped down the football leagues?. How come you have ended up in Montana?......
  • Exiled Ken, exiled.
  • I know the feeling Floyd?
I have always been intrigued by Montana ........
Are you familiar with the song 'Montana' by Frank Zappa
Check it out on you tube.......

I'm more familiar with Tony Montana, but I have spent a lot of time in the ''Montana'''s having been engaged to a girl out there in my youth.
Quite a fan of the better half of Mr Zappa's output.
Will check out Montana tomorrow, thanks Ken. Always enjoy summat new!

Big pointy empty state, as my friends family used to say!
  • Fireworks in Woolwich town centre this evening and shown live on the local news.

The last time I saw fire like that was the Weatherspoons going up last august :-(
  • Financial side is being managed sensibly. Existing stocks of headed paper etc to be run down before new branding is ordered. Domains registered to SSL certificates dont change till they run out. Road signs only updated when required.
  • Can it be taken away if the council misbehaves, like Fred the Shred's knighthood?
  • Us Mothers and Babies babies can be proud

I thought Eltham was royal already and had been for some time.

I can remember being in the 10th ROYAL Eltham cubs and scouts back in the day and Eltham was part of the London Borough of Greenwich when I worked there for a while also back in the day so what's new?
  • Doesn't it also mean that all other teams bar reading have to change their kit when we play them

I am sure that reading have that privilege as a royal county

( dunno where I heard it or read it )
  • years ago when Greenwich and Woolwich boroughs merged it was suggested that the borough should be known as Royal Charlton but it was rejected.
  • Had a lovely afternoon in the Royal Borough and made it down to watch the fireworks with the lights flashing off the Royal Naval College with Land of Hope and Glory blaring out. Lovely display and really enjoyed it.

Hope a few of you made it down also.

Sadly not Len. The Cubs/Scouts just added Royal because of the palace. Infact from 1st Jan 2012 the Eltham Dstrict have actually dropped the Royal tag because of Greenwich getting Royal status.

I was in 1st Royal Eltham as were my kids.
