The Royal Borough of Greenwich

edited February 2012 in General Charlton
Does anyone feel, well, 'posher' as a result of this new status? Plumstead still looks the same this morning.

  • Having lived in the borough all my life I'm now to be addressed as the Honourable Chirpy Red if you don't mind........
  • Me too Chirpy your hounourableshipness.
  • Can I now say I was born on Royal Greenwich Hospital?
  • and being born at the Mothers and Babies Hospital means I am now Sir Charlton4ever.
  • And I thought our council wasted a lot of money.
  • And are we now supporters of Royal Charlton FC? Or Charlton Royal? Some would be quite happy with that but the anarcho-syndicalist in me rages at the thought. Real Charlton wouldn't be too bad I suppose.
  • Makes no difference to me as I was born and raised in the garden of England (albeit in the potting shed behind the rose bushes).
  • Does this mean we will pay with a crown above our badge and we are now:

    Royal Charlton Athletic

Yes we will change the badge but next season.

No, the name of the Club won't change.

Raising the cutty sark on tonight!
  • I just hope that Greenwich does not waste a load of money getting all it's corporate material, like letterheads, signs, and livery changed to 'incorporate' this. I give not a jot about this personally, seems that Greenwich has moved away from it's left wing leaning's of a few year's ago. Did it not declare itself a 'nuclear free zone' a few years ago........

Wasn't it cold on that roof ?

    But you're from, erm, Bexley?
  • Am I the only one who is really proud of this..........sounds like it,

Born, raised and schooled in the borough this actually means something to me.

  • Citizens - it is and always will be The People's Republic of Greenwich.

    Pleased!! Pleased aint good enough

But born in Greenwich, lived in Charlton, went to school in Charlton, and worked in Woolwich....... Anyway, you only just qualify being about a mile from where I live. I once lived alongside Blackheath, near the pond and that was Lewisham council. Mind you. Lewisham/Greenwich/Bexley not exactly without there faults are they?
  • Does this mean we are signing Ledley King next season, was he on that list emailed to AFKA?
  • I think it will make a lot of sense commercially over time. If the olympic tv people get it right, the shots of the showjumping at 'Royal Greenwich Park' should be a living tourism commercial.

Also gives the lefties something else to whine about so it's a win win really.
  • It's great for the borough, as long as it's marketed properly, and the council up there game in other areas
