If our wage budget is £17m, then I can’t wait for the flurry of £4m+ signings on Monday morning.2

Next week apparently...we're all on tenterhooks at the moment on this one...Redvalleyeast said:1 -
£17m seems steep for a wage budget , £17m total with half of that being the transfer budget would make more sense.
Would be a real statement to in effect double the wage budget0 -

lol, you have no idea nowadays, the interstage area between pyramid and Woodsies is a who’s who gallery of celebs and sports people. I started typing this 30 mins ago but got side tracked chatting to Aimme Lou Wood about filming experiences on White Lotus. 😂😂killerandflash said:

lol, no yesterday lunchtime and it was after a meal in a hospitality area restaurant. The CH can also play wing back and full back comfortably - high assist rate and whoever mentioned £17m in wages is near on money with what I was told yesterday too. Very very slightly under and this is not transfer fees, wage bill only.RobinOnions said:

What he really means is he hasn’t got a clue if Galbraith will sign, but he’s worded it like he’s some insider messiah — meanwhile the rest of us haven’t a clue either between us, and we know it.Redvalleyeast said:14 -
Perhaps he knows we are signing someone else instead in Galbraiths position.scabbyhorse said:

Considering the £11m uplift in central income a much bigger wage budget seems realistic.
Whether that is in the £15m range (the poster said under £17m) I don't know but I don't think it is out of the question.
I am dubious, without doubting @Pavoren007 was told this, how a shareholder in another club knows what our budget is.9 -
Derry Murkin — apparently that’s the name dropped on me today by some random German. Clearly, my Charlton towel’s attracting all sorts of loonies.6

Keep those beers flowing and do pop back later to tell us more. 😉3 -

Anyone worried about Aloafe's finishing, maybe he will be the nuisance alongside the clinical striker. I loved Pringle and he hardly ever looked like scoring but Hunt scored lots alongside him in 99-00.7

A murkin is a pubic wig. Murkins were worn by prostitutes after shaving their mons pubis, and are used as decorative items or erotic devices by both men and women.
We don't want that sort of person in our club.7 -
Well Mr Silly Galbraith- Charlton ARE literally a Championship club and historically are far more so than Clapton Orient. Vile as that makes me to state it but those are the facts .JustFloydRoad said:king addick said:
Ahhhh yes....the vileness.....how could I forget...Stewart said:
He hates Charlton remember.king addick said:He doesn’t hate Charlton, the rumours (which are rumours) is that he said that Charlton are not a championship club, which given we have been between the Championship/League One during his career is a fair comment. The vileness part is what was added on but their (Leyton Orient) fans.

Lots of deals done and not announced.
I know of one dutch player signed for a foreign club at least beginning of this month Still not announced at the moment.Seen picture of him in New Shirt as well.0 -
I can’t get excited about Famewo. Granted he was very early on in his career during his time here, and we were a poor team whilst he was part of it, but I keep thinking back to that Lincoln away game (we lost 2-1 late on). His attempts at keeping the ball on the pitch were something else. Out of the back 3 that started at Wembley, I’m not saying they couldn’t be improved upon, but that version of Famewo replacing any of them doesn’t instill me with much hope
let’s hope he’s really improved, otherwise he’s just beefing up the numbers5 -
Doucher is the best ITK because he just says what he hears and keeps it clear and concise. Cryptic clues are muggy and attention seeking.

No! In two consecutive seasons he hit the target with 48% (league 2) & 44% (league 1) of his total shots. In every level he’s played he’s been threatening 50%cfgs said:Anyone worried about Aloafe's finishing, maybe he will be the nuisance alongside the clinical striker. There is also the added factor of every player improved individually under NJ.Caveat - can this trend continue in the Championship? If so, this is a very clever bit of business.6 -

I do take it with a pinch of salt just as I do with practically all figures bandied around on here, yours included. I can't recall anyone saying 10k was too much for Small, if that indeed was what we were offering, but many were saying perhaps NJ didn't think he was worth that or more and that our budget could be better spent elsewhere.Braziliance said:
They will get an increase, but it won't be that much, won't be double wages increase, put it that way.LargeAddick said:
You forget that a lot of the current players will get a wage increase on our promotion, assuming they had competent agents.Braziliance said:
Not saying you didn't hear this, but I would be very surprised if true. Our current wage bill is approximately 8 million, that's over a double in increase of wages in one season, and would put us on par with Hull, and just behind the likes of West Brom.Pavoren007 said:

That seems completely unrealistic. It would be much more realistic to be hovering around the 10-12 million annual squad wages in our first season back. Unless we are completely changing our clubs infrastructure and paying double the wages to each player we sign compared to our current players.
If we use 17 million as a base yearly salary across a 25 man squad, that would be 19k per player, per week.
We can't go from saying how expensive wages are (thinking Small for 10k is too much & saying we can't disrupt the squads wages), to believing we would have this kinda of drastic turnaround in a single window. So far all of our strongest links have been league 1 players.
West Broms wage bill is 19 million, and they've been a Prem/championship side for as long as I can remember. I would take what Pav heard (not having a dig at Pav, I believe he was told that) with a pinch of salt or you'll be likely setting yourself up for disappointment.
I'd love us to chuck the money at it but we need a bit of realism here.
I don't know what our transfer budget is or our wages budget, no one on here really does, but I'm sure NJ is happy with it and that we will be competitive in this league. As he's said numerous times we are not here just to make up the numbers and they are aiming higher than that. If so then we will have to spend to achieve that. Maybe not the numbers quoted today but maybe more than us fans anticipated.7 -

Just said to the missus, if he’s going on loan to the Championship then why not us? He may even want to come home for a season.Valley11 said:2
