As a Sussex fan it feels more like Chuks , you get a glimpse of what he's capable of and then he's injured again. Was disappointed the ECB let him go to the IPL this year instead of playing County Champ.wmcf123 said:

Good to see Dawson showing what we've been missing. Finishes with 4-0-20-4. Ridiculous that we have been picking and awarding central contracts to far lesser mortals.6

There can’t be too many cricketers who have played for England with three-letter surnames. Peter May comes to my mind. Batting 3, 4, 5 for England Lions today are Gay, Cox and Rew. There must be more who have played for England, though…1

He's so experienced but rashid doesn't seem to understand that you can bowl slow and pitch it up. Gets hit for consecutive 6s but doesn't do that. Maybe I'm simple but I was watching it and couldn't understand what he was doing.0

The Windies lost heavily, but still made 211-8. That was a very easy batting surface to score runs on.
I hadn't been paying much attention to this series, but quite surprised that England have used only 2 seam bowlers in each of the 3 T20 games. Would we have played India or Australia with just 2 seamers, and 4 spin options?2 -
Think you'd have dropped Jacks for an extra pace option against most sides. Whether that would be a batting rejig for Saqib Mahmood or a more like for like all-rounder like a Jamie Overton or Sam Curran would obviously be up for debate.killerandflash said:The Windies lost heavily, but still made 211-8. Hopefully Liam Dawson manages to stick around in this side in T20 at least , he's just showing what he's done in this format for years with Hampshire.3 -

They tend to work from "who are our best 6 batters" and then pick a batting order from there whereas we try to fit square pegs in square holes. Well until recently, anyway, which is why Crawley and Pope have become so vulnerable with the advent of Bethell.killerandflash said:Australia 2 down already.

Well that was bizarre. Webster was absolutely plumb with the umpire, bowler and skipper all seemingly confused by the two noises of ball striking pad and batter hitting his back leg with his bat - so no review taken.0

And then they review one that comes off the middle of the bat because they thought it hit the pad first when it was Webster with his bat doing so. The Saffers need to go straight down to Specsavers at the end of play.0

Although I don't totally agree with the ICC rankings (mainly due to the "lag" being of too long a duration) I don't think too many can argue with those on display in this game:

We've obviously been severely affected by the retirements of Anderson and Broad, the dropping of Robinson and Leach and the absence of Archer (will he ever be fit enough for the rigours of Test cricket?) and so many of our bowlers are in their developmental stage. Therein, though, lies the problem. Taking our top ranked bowlers (like for like) for the Ashes against the Aussies that would be:
Cummins (3) v Atkinson (13)
Hazlewood (4) v Woakes (20)
Lyon (5) v Bashir (42)
Starc (11) v Wood (32)
Woakes would probably be replaced by Carse (39). Against that, we do have the top two ranked batters in Root and Brook with Duckett in 13th but if we do struggle to bowl the Aussies out it is asking a lot of our batters to win us games down under. We are going to learn a lot more in the upcoming series against India.0
