Bashir does bowl wicket taking deliveries. But he also bowls a lot of loose stuff, and you fear that better batsmen will milk him.
That he took 6 wickets doesn't say much about the seam attack though.4 -

This is my worry with him against India and especially Australia, there's some excellent attacking batsman in both sides that will relish some of what Bashir serves up.1 -
Bashir can bowl some absolute pearlers, he just needs to get more consistent. Can’t do that without playing matches though0

Winners from that Test: Crawley, Pope, Bashir, Woakes, Potts and Carse.4

Harry Brook has just announced in a news conference the XI for tomorrow's ODI against the Windies with Jamie Smith the new partner for Duckett. Buttler is back with the gloves. Long batting line up but I do fear for our spin options beyond Rashid:
Duckett
Smith
Root
Brook (C)
Buttler (WK)
Bethell
Jacks
Overton
Carse
Rashid
Mahmood

Atkinson injured, so the seam ranks are a bit thin too.0

If the bowling performance against Zimbabwe is indicative of what this squad is capable of then the India batters are going to dine on them like hyenas on a wildebeest carcass
Irrespective of the conditions if Gill wins the toss he can opt to bat first, rack up 700 in 5 sessions and have 10 sessions to win the game. Only Stokes carries any discernible threat and his bowling will be limited
England's score against Zim ain't carrying much comfort either. The Zim attack was naive to put it mildly and the fielding was truly village.
England v India will likely look like the Zimbabwe match but with the hosts as the prey.0 -

Incredible batting from Bethell in this ODI1
-
The first time an ODI team has reached 400 without a player hitting a century. And the first time that seven batters have scored 30 or more.3

That looked particularly unpleasant for Overton. Who knew that Bethell could be a like-for-like replacement to finish the over.0

Unless Overton returns (and given it is his bowling hand that seems unlikely), we now only have two seamers plus one frontline spinner in Rashid with the other 19 overs to be shared between Bethell, Jacks and Root.0
-
That is brain dead cricket from Carty. He knows that Mahmood and Carse can't carry on bowling through so one end will open up even if Rashid is bowling at the other. Wouldn't be surprised if his fellow players shun him in the dressing room and leave him on his Todd.0

It's a good job that the Windies have played for all of their bats because it's very difficult to set fields when the inside edge is in constant use.1
