Unlikely as a swap though I’d think.ForeverAddickted said:

When clubs do swap deals though they inflate the transfer fees of each player so they can write it as more profit alllowing them more money to spend to avoid ffp so would actually be in our interest if that was to happen. Does anyone know if we still have the sell on fee for Gomez in place or have we bought out the sell on fee already so won’t get anything if he does goPelling1993 said:Knowing our luck it will be the same as Pope and it'll be some shit swap deal that screws us0 -
Last summer Rodwell spoke about the possibility of the Gomez fee coming our way so I would guess that it is still in place.Crispywood said:

swordfish said:I don't think Jones has any intention of casting aside his mainstays from the season just gone.
I wouldn't be surprised if his thinking is to get quality replacements in for the outgoings, and to add to our front line options as they've been limited. If we can continue to keep clean sheets, that would be great, but it will be harder now, so more of a goal threat required.
In short, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.ElfsborgAddick said:Braziliance said:ShootersHillGuru said:Braziliance said:
I'm not making anything up, it's a fucking opinion. Jesus Christ. I don't think he's very good. I am basing this off of watching every game this season, and seeing him fail to control a game.Henry Irving said:
And your evidence for him being a "passenger" is?Braziliance said:
Ok. I believe a player isn't good, you believe otherwise.Henry Irving said:
More nonsense. You've gone from "never done it" to "didn't thrive"Braziliance said:
Shall I now make a list of all the Charlton players that were awful but played a number of championship games?Henry Irving said:
Wow, three seasons in the Championship and over 90 league games but "he's never done it at this level"?Braziliance said:
That's the issue, although, it may help us that Birmingham probably don't see us a threat to their league position? They might prefer to send him to a team that won't be challenging top6 in their eyes.Crispywood said:
Very tidy player but going to be about 5 clubs interested in him. Rumoured to be on 10k a week at Birmingham so definitely not out of reach but if other clubs start offering big loan fees as well not sure we would be able to get himBraziliance said:https://x.com/SportsPeteO/status/1929528197361910167?t=pA6KNsxKkl8I-dZ4uzRvUA&s=19
Marc Leonard anyone?
Loan with an option to buy would be ideal. Reckon he would start for us.
For me Docherty, hypothetically.Scoham said:
Who’s place would you see him taking? Not saying he wouldn’t start for us.Braziliance said:https://x.com/SportsPeteO/status/1929528197361910167?t=pA6KNsxKkl8I-dZ4uzRvUA&s=19

Docherty is a league1 quality player imo. I am expecting us to upgrade on him.
I think Jones should be club captain and Docherty shouldn't be starting. Might sound harsh but it just worries me how little he played for Hull and he's never really done it at this level.
Sorry to any Doc fans but I'd like to see us sign two new mids to play with Cov.
We should, if we can, upgrade on Doc but the same can be said for every player in the side. You could argue he dropped down a level for a reason but to pretend he never did it is just nonsense.
When I say he didn't do it, I mean he didn't thrive in this league. If he did, he would have been kept by Hull. He couldn't even stand out in League1 if we are being honest.
We need better to progress, harsh but true.
He was kept by Hull, for three seasons, and then like most players at one time or another he moved on to be the captain of a promotion winning team in league one but that isn't enough somehow.
We do need better players to progress but that is no reason to dismiss the contributions that Doc and many others have made.
I just don't get this whole either/or justification. Someone can like both Chinese and Indian food. You don't have to run down one to like the other.
We can praise a player AND want better replacements
We don't have to write off a player, and in this case our captain who did contribute greatly, just to justify bringing in someone better, younger, fitter, more suited.
I believe he was a passenger in the championship, you believe he was championship quality.
Moving on.
Again, why make stuff up just to justify replacing him.
24/25: League 1, 40 apps, 4 goals 2 assists.
23/24: 15 Champ apps, bit part player
22/23: 1940 minutes of Champ football
21/22: 40 champ apps, 1 goal, 2842 mins, 71 mins average0 -
#Millwall defender Japhet Tanganga has a release clause of around £1.2million in his contract - believe that may only be Premier League clubs that can bid to activate it. Made 40 Championship appearances last season. Tanganga won Millwall Supporters' Club 2024-25 Player of the Season award.

We've never bought out the sell on fee, it's in place and it's worth "at least 20%" according to CawleyCrispywood said:

If there’s any PL interest in the player they’ll laugh their bollox off at £1.2 million.Henry Irving said:#Millwall defender Japhet Tanganga has a release clause of around £1.2million in his contract - believe that may only be Premier League clubs that can bid to activate it. That team would get absolutely dicked almost every week. No chance it would avoid relegation.soapboxsam said:killerandflash said:Nobody is talking about ripping up the team or dumping players, we're talking about improving the side. And you do that by bringing in new and better players, who will take the place of existing first team players, or at least significantly reduce their minutes. If we can't improve on the existing players, then why are we signing anyone?
Our best 11 from last season, Mannion, Edwards, Gillesphey, Jones, Ramsay, Small, Coventry, Docherty, Berry, Campbell, Godden won't keep us up in the Championship.
If that 11 were fit for 46 games they could be 20th or 21st BUT injuries happen and we need x amount of new players to bring more quality to the team as that 11 were great but the Championship would punish them.
Agree with your post otherwise, and We should aim to be mid table and if we are a tad short of that we are still a championship side so improvements are needed.0 -
Ever since I realised to start reading your posts with the voice of Karl Pilkington, I've come to appreciate them as some of the best value on Charlton Life. Don't ever stop being you @RonnieMoore.RonnieMoore said:

Was Rich Cawley hinting we may go for Begovich again now Everton have released him ?
Maybe L1 was too big a step down for him.0 -
When we were snifing around him last season we were asked by a coach at QPR why the hell we were interested. Even QPR acknowledged Begovic was on a downward spiral, and a year later, that won't have improved.Richard J said:Was Rich Cawley hinting we may go for Begovich again now Everton have released him ?
