A strong 2s side are taking on Hampshire today at Polo Farm, Canterbury - it includes Compton, Leaning, Finch, Benjamin, Garrett and Agar.
Talking about Big Wes, I was at Polo Farm on Saturday as Seb's Bickley were playing Canterbury and he was going through his paces and for a minute I was a bit concerned that the was going to be turning out for the opposition but then they already have Bryce Street, the Queensland batter. I had a good chat with him as Seb had met him a number of times in Adelaide as Wes is really good friends with Jas Singh as a result of them playing together at club level (Jas actually stayed with him for their recent summer). Wes says he's really looking forward to playing for us and is raring to go. Here's hoping that results in a shed load of white and red ball wickets in the next couple of months!

I don't wish to be a harbinger of doom but if that doesn't spell "season-ending injury incoming" then nothing will!2 -
"In his first game for Kent in 2025 Ashton Wes Agar bowled with real menace, taking two Middlesex wickets in his first over. Unfortunately while taking the applause from the healthy contingent of Kent supporters at Lord's, in a freak accident he ruptured his achilles after treading on a champagne cork. We wish him well in his recovery."Briston_Addick said:Addick Addict said:A strong 2s side are taking on Hampshire today at Polo Farm, Canterbury - it includes Compton, Leaning, Finch, Benjamin, Garrett and Agar.

He successfully negotiated his first ball so much so that it was deemed a "no ball". And the free hit was hit for a boundary. His figures of 4-0-36-1 are nothing to write home about but then that is the purpose of him playing today.Briston_Addick said:Addick Addict said:A strong 2s side are taking on Hampshire today at Polo Farm, Canterbury - it includes Compton, Leaning, Finch, Benjamin, Garrett and Agar.

Things are so bad, even the brothers of Kent players are victims of the Kent injury curse now.moutuakilla said:

Kent 2s beat Hants by 8 wickets with 8 balls to spare:
Finch 51 (39)Compton 28 (28)Leaning 45* (32)
Benjamin 24* (13)2 -
Read an article that Muyeye , Gilchrist and evison are out of contract at the end of this season and are attracting a lot of interest. Looks like it might get even worse when the vultures come circling .0

I think that the vast majority of our squad are out of contract at the end of the season. There could be quite a few going.000__Jaaaaay__000 said:Read an article that Muyeye , Gilchrist and evison are out of contract at the end of this season and are attracting a lot of interest. Agar for Garrett with Finch being omitted from the 13 for tomorrow's game against Middlesex. Expect Leaning and Gilchrist to be the drinks carriers.

Cold and wet tomorrow, so may not get much play anyway.

Cold and wet you say?killerandflash said:Cold and wet tomorrow, so may not get much play anyway.
Expect an update from the club by the weekend:
"It is with a heavy heart that Kent CCC has to announce that Sam 'Bilbo' Billings is out for the rest of the domestic season with trenchfoot."7 -
They might do and Parkinson didn't bowl well in the last match but not many sides go into a T20 game with five seamers and one spinner, a part-timer at that. Not that I suspect the game will be on anyway.wmcf123 said:

Looks like Parkinson won't be available for us after all

Was there 2 dubious decisions during our innings ....?
Or am I merely biased ?

Possibly though it's chucking it down now.Fanny Fanackapan said:Was there 2 dubious decisions during our innings ....?

Moving forward, the balance of the side doesn't look right to me with Rogers batting at 7 and also having 5 seamers. Their spinners took the big wickets of Muyeye, Denly, Billings and Crawley. Having said that, the ball might be a bit of a bar of soap for any spinner to grip following the rain so we might not even see Denly.
If we can't trust Parkinson then we need to get another spinner in. Jaydn isn't ready to do that role and O'Riordan has been out all season leaving us with just the part time efforts of Denly Snr and Leaning who might well come back in for the unfortunate Benjamin.0 -
Match abandoned. We're still unbeaten in the Blast!2

That’s what I would do - Leaning in for Benjamin, and hope that he can play himself back into form.Addick Addict said:Moving forward, the balance of the side doesn't look right to me with Rogers batting at 7 and also having 5 seamers. Weather permitting meant to be going tonight, looking forward to it.0

I've only just caught up with the Kent game. Parkinson has come in for the injured Benjamin meaning we only have five proper batters with Rogers or Stewart coming in at 6.
Edit - sorry Leaning is in too with Gilchrist out0
