I’d imagine he’s well aware that their owner is a fruitloop, and the job is forever changing hands.
Some stability in his career might be the better choice.
Constantly talking about the connection to our owners and backing etc.
He's going to have a hell of a job connecting with their bafoon of an owner.1 -

Think I’m lost now. The tweet from Ali Maxwell didn’t say anything like it.Braziliance said:
I don't agree with his tweet. It's not like Nathan Jones happens to be a Cardiff fan and a job has opened. He has specifically said he wants to manage Cardiff one day.Callumcafc said:
Mate I feel like that’s a lot of words just to say you agree with the original tweet.Braziliance said:
That isn't quite true. The speculation comes from these quotes.Callumcafc said:
Now, not saying his mind hasn't changed, but he has definitely said he wants the job, and that he would never turn it down, as recently as 2 years ago. So that guy is wrong in saying it's just cause he's a Cardiff fan. He even speculated this season.
The speculation is here because not only have BBC sport done an article on the interest, the man himself has flirted with Cardiff openly.
It didn’t even rule it out - just said they’d be dumbfounded if it happened, as would most people (but maybe not the nervous ninnies on here).
That's specifically the part of his tweet I disagree with, that he hasn't said he wants the job, he has, that's what the word never means if we are taking the quote literally.
It doesn't float my boat and and the quotes aren't that old.Rothko said:The speculation comes from old quotes, a lot a long time ago and before a promotion to a higher league. But whatever floats your boat
I'll stop now cause I'm not really adding much here other than what's already been said. Just trying to pre-emptively soften the blow incase it does happen.

I could be totally wrong here but it sounds like Reams messaged a renowned former Cardiff FC hooligan who by all accounts sounds like he just regurgitated what these unsubstantiated articles said earlier.
Not saying that any of that is in bad faith what so ever, but just feels a little of 2+2 =5 to me.

In 2025 that’s correct isn’t it? You’ve pulled out quotes from 2024 and 2022. The situation now isn’t the same as in the past.Braziliance said:

The last time he flirted with this, they were in the Championship and we were in League One. Taking that job now is a lot less attractive than it was nine months ago.And there has been no indication he wants a job with in League One with Cardiff City as it currently stands.1 -

Just surprised at the amount of copium here. He has literally said word for word, he could never turn down Cardiff. That's it. There is no other way of spinning it. Doesn't matter if he said it ten years ago, never, is never. It would be incredibly naive to think he won't consider the job if they approach him, emphasis on incredibly.
Just assume you're trolling a bit at this point, fair play.5 -

Ridiculously im trying to put myself in NJs shoes and I suppose I can understand the lure of if his boyhood club are in a right pickle and have come calling at a time of need….he is the type of character who would back himself to the hill to get them out of the shite whether they have a shite owner or not.Callumcafc said:

Nathan Jones, if you haven’t noticed, has a habit of being a bit dramatic. Saying he could never turn them down - I can think of plenty of scenarios where he would so it means next to nothing.Braziliance said:

I’m prolly in the minority of one here when I don’t think it would be the end of the world if he left , I don’t feel the love for him that Lennie, Curbs and SCP drew from me.
He’s more in the Bowyer camp where they’re just not in that I completely love them zone .
What Jones has done this season is easily the quickest turnaround and most unbelievable promotion imo that I’ve seen , we were utter dog shit and he spun around that in to a machine of a team that got promotion , a miracle beyond all miracles and for that I’ll be eternally grateful .
Definitely prefer him to stay but there won’t be any heart ache if he goes cos he’s a bit or an arsey bell on occasion and I can relate to that !Football is a mad game and complete irrational thoughts and feelings emanate from it and if I was sane I’d never have the above opinion , probably.19 -

I’d agree if we had a slightly better equipped squad and it wasn’t already beginning of June. Getting another manager in would set us back a few more weeks , probably, no matter who it is.oohaahmortimer said:I’m prolly in the minority of one here when I don’t think it would be the end of the world if he left , I don’t feel the love for him that Lennie, Curbs and SCP drew from me.

Exactly. This is like when Pep said a few years ago that he'd like to manage a national team at a World Cup. It didn't mean he was about to walk out on City.Callumcafc said:All he’s ever said is that he wants it one day. What is the evidence he wants it now?
When the time is right, i have no doubt that Jones will manage Cardiff. I also have no doubt that in his mind Jones will know that time is not now.9
