I think we should agree a huge fee for Jones, with Cardiff and let him join them on a permanent deal straight away.
That way, we'll be able to re-appoint him for nothing when they sack him just before pre-season starts.3 -

Lovely business to be in if you can lay those two at those prices and make a profit doing that let alone if someone else gets the job. £10 moves those market and perhaps, for those reasons, we should take those odds with a pinch of salt. Each backer at those prices must be almost certain that he is getting the job given those odds for Jones and Ramsey suggest that one has a 67% chance and the other a 40% chance of getting it.
With that in mind, I will recount a story from years ago. I used to work with the cousin of a candidate for a high profile managerial position. He was told that his cousin had the job and that there was going to be a final meeting to sort out the small print. So he lumped on and single handedly moved the Betfair market (which bookies will take notice of). Now, when I say "lump on", we are talking life savings, overdraft, anything he could get his hands on in fact.
Then he and others heard, over the course of a weekend, that there was a stumbling block in those discussions. And that candidate drifted and drifted. Panic set in to the extent that he felt compelled to lay him in the Betfair market to try and get some money back at much bigger prices too as the drift continued. His book was as deep a colour of red he could have been. On the Monday his cousin was appointed manager and he was left with, instead of a substantial profit, a big loss.
Nothing is certain until a manager actually signs on the dotted line. Neither Jones nor Ramsey are probably anywhere near doing that even if those prices suggest they are.

He’s repeatedly talked about learning from experiences at Southampton and Stoke and having to rebuild his reputation from going into the wrong situation or not being given time to build something. While he’s emotional, he’s also ambitious and an intelligent guy a Cardiff move now would be a huge risk to his rebuilt reputation IMO very boom or bust. I just can’t see him taking that risk.10
