An angel came to me in a dream and whispered in my ear .. 'Nathan will sign Chuks on a pay as you play basis' .. was this a dream or a nightmare ??
(seriously I reckon he can still do the job he's had for a while as a last quarter (excuse the U S Football lingo) disruptor?4 -
Chuks is sadly too far gone. But with 9 subs in the Championship there is a space for a last 20 finisher.Lincsaddick said:An angel came to me in a dream and whispered in my ear .. 'Nathan will sign Chuks on a pay as you play basis' .. was this a dream or a nightmare ??

last 20, not 22 1/2 ?killerandflash said:

Not sure if this impacts our chances with Mulligan

I read Rangers may have struggled to sign players until their takeover goes through.1 -
From my back of the envelope calcs, all of the increased TV revenue will be spent on increased wages to at least match the bottom third of the league.ShootersHillGuru said:
I very much doubt that the whole of our transfer business amounts to £5 million.golfaddick said:
In a heart beat.CafcWest said:May already have been mentioned (apologies if so) but Rak-Sakyi available...no idea of cost but would be a great addition (IMO). https://www.newsshopper.co.uk/sport/25182184.exclusive-crystal-palace-open-jesurun-rak-sakyi-sale/
Probably cost £5m......or less with lots of add-ons
If the owners put their hand in their pocket to cover the max amount of losses allowable we'd have about £4m (£13m loss allowed under FFP - £9m forecast loss this year) to spend on transfer fees and agent fees.
These would be amortised though, so if we sign a player for £3m on a 3 year contract then in the accounts they actually cost £1m per year over the life of their contract.
Meaning, taking into account prior year transfer fees, we can probably spend just north of £10m on transfers.
Caveat to that is it does require the owners funding themselves and guaranteeing the payments to other clubs whether we stay up or not.
So I would say it is possible, however it's up to the owners to decide if they're comfortable putting all that money in and NJ if he wants to allocate so much to one player.
Ps yes I am an accountant13 -
I’m sure NJ will have higher expectations than keeping Aneke, even with 9 subs. He’s declining as a player and we’ve gone up a level. He’s now mainly a target for long balls and someone to hold the ball up. He’s not the super sub regularly scoring off the bench anymore. We can make better use of the budget.7

No, but last line of defence is.cfgs said:

Is net minder or last line of defense acceptable?1 -
Do we think that there are any surprises coming in who we might release or are prepared to let go. I think it’s fair to say that May was a bit of a shock and up to a point Dobson. Nathan has a reputation at least on here for being ruthless so who if any might be sacrificed for the greater good ?1

Hold yer breath .. Lloyd Jones IF the bid is big enough .. just so long as the fee is reinvested on incoming players .. would of course be a big askShootersHillGuru said:Do we think that there are any surprises coming in who we might release or are prepared to let go. Should we start a 'Players I Would Like to Sign' thread? Then we might get some transfer rumours on it!5

Alex Mitchell is my guess. Shown he can do a job, but his potential is limited compared to someone with pace and more ability on the ball. There will be young defenders out there like that as we’ve seen with Ramsay. Zach Mitchell fits that too.ShootersHillGuru said:Do we think that there are any surprises coming in who we might release or are prepared to let go. I think that Gavin Carter being promoted to full board member on the 1st working day after promotion can only mean he is going to put his hand in his pocket. Doubt if he's alone.0

The bloke who pretended to be injured so he did not have to play for us in cup tie … reallyLincsaddick said:Has Corey Blackett - Taylor been mentioned ? .. could do a good job or us in attack .. doubt is a recent recovery from a hamstring injury, always a problem for speedy wingers1 -
Won’t sign anyone until they get a new manager in placeBraziliance said:Not sure if this impacts our chances with Mulligan

No thanks.Swisdom said:One potential option for a goalie with Championship experience could be James Beadle. Unlikely to get a game at Brighton, has some experience at Sheff Weds last season and, obviously, a Charlton fan too.0 -

I'm not sure that would be a shock, as he was only a squad player in L1 anyway.Scoham said:

Wrexham trying to sign Ben Davies. Mental. 100k a week at Spurs, surely they can't match his wages.0 -

Personally don’t think NJ is desperate to keep Small like most of the fanbase, I know he has better options elsewhere but doubt we’ve tried all we can to keep him. Other than that this feels very much like a NJ squad and all the players he wouldn’t have wanted aren’t here anymoreShootersHillGuru said:Do we think that there are any surprises coming in who we might release or are prepared to let go. I think there’d be a mixture of reactions as some will see him being a useful player to have as cover.killerandflash said:

NJ though is ambitious and I don’t think he’ll keep players he doesn’t rate enough, as we saw with clearing out REG, Edun and apparently Watson was close to going.1 -
Sonny Bradley seems a sensible signing, we need cover in at CB, obviously worked with NJ in the past and I thought he was immense in both our play off games against him4

In terms of absolute wealth I think Carter's pockets are pretty shallow in Championship terms. He will probably be advising that money is spent but I doubt he'll be putting tremendous amounts in personally.Gisappointed said:I think that Gavin Carter being promoted to full board member on the 1st working day after promotion can only mean he is going to put his hand in his pocket. No reason to sign Bradley when we already have Mitchell who’s basically the same player. Ageing now and wasn’t good enough for derby we need players who are going to be good enough for championshipPWADDICK said:Sonny Bradley seems a sensible signing, we need cover in at CB, obviously worked with NJ in the past and I thought he was immense in both our play off games against him7 -
Gavin Carter was adamant on the Charlton TV playoff preview about being sustainable going forward in terms of recruitment. Read this how you will. But for me, it doesn’t sound promising.thenewbie said:

Apparenty he's 6'7" so an inch taller than Pope
Valued at £5m on Transfermarkt
Sheff Weds fans were largely delighted with him and want him back next season.
Definite step up on what we've got

Statistically he’s been one of the worse goalkeepers in the championship this season Wednesday ended up dropping him for a 18 year old towards the end of the season as well.Swisdom said:
