I have a suspicion that the signings we do make will be under everyone’s radar.
I hope they are ! I still haven't got over our 'radar' picking out ' Ladapo' as our Marquee signing, an actual 'Marquee' would have been more use !

    Wow. Page 26 already!
    Does anyone have a summary?
And people have mentioned our budget. How do we know what our budget is? The new owners did what it takes to get us up to the Championship. Who’s to say they won’t now be prepared to invest some relatively serious money, now that the Premier League is technically within reach? it would be crazy if they risked demotion back to the oblivion of League One just to save a few million.

Asiimwe seems highly competent back up to Small and perhaps Ramsay on todays showing. Only 20. Step up on Watson.

Mbick is going to be better than Leaburn and Enslin will make a mark
Perhaps all on bench, but cuts down on recruitment.
I’m not sure Mbick has enough pace for the Championship. I think he’ll be loaned out.

I think Rak-Sakyi may emerge as an option. My brother in law is a Palace fan and he is pretty convinced Jes will be sold this summer. Too many stronger lads ahead of him in the Palace squad now despite his talents. Could be nothing but when I asked Jes on Sunday what are his plans next and would he consider coming back to CAFC he just smiled and said you never know what might happen over the summer… Here’s hoping - he got 7 goals in 35 for Sheff Utd and would imagine he’d rather be back under the London lights if possible - closer to home and all that.

Massively out of our budget. Reckon he would cost 10mil, or not far off

Re: Galbraith of Orient, I know they turned down 1m for him from Swansea in Jan

Def the type of player we should be going for though

It’s going to be bloody tough without 6/7 real quality additions imo

as well as the team did this season, this is a massive step up.  Godden has been class and is absolutely worth keeping, but Coventry, a competitive team in the championship felt it was the right time to move him on.  Similar Docherty.  I like both of them, but thinking 6 years on from when we were last in the championship, it seems like it’s even harder.

You can’t argue with NJ’s approach and how it’s got us out this league and the focus on clean sheets, but I’m thinking, replicating that type of approach with the current players against some of the teams we’re gonna be up against 🤯 - going to be very tough

We need a transfer rumours thread with rumours on, and a separate thread for opinions as to who should leave and be bought.
So far we have a rumours thread with no rumours.
    Jordan Gabriel - That’s one

Parky said that Charlton and Wrexham are going to be competing for the same players - the pull of Wrexham is going to be huge for players, they will also be paying the highest wages - the amount of revenue they generate is huge - they will not need to worry about FFP
Also need to consider that players at Wrexham get a huge amount of media profile courtesy of Netflix and all the other media interest. That will lead to much better commercial opportunities for them than would be the norm for Championship or League One players. Plus the glitz of being part of the Hollywood circus, more attractive pre-season tours etc.

He certainly isn't ready for the first team yet. Agree he needs to work on his speed off the mark, and also his first touch looked a bit clumsy in his brief appearance at Wembley.

Yes. Remember any Charlton players from the past ten years? Someone has suggested we re-sign them.

Completely understand what you are saying but I remember a very lightweight Charlton side turning over Leeds 1-0 at the Valley last time round and nobody would have seen that coming! You just never know how certain players will cope with championship football. We may be pleasantly surprised with quite a few players.

That being said I am fully aware we need additions! Strong additions at that too!

My Orient mate has said they've got the option of an extension.

Malik Mothersille would be a decent signing. He looked dangerous in the games v Posh. 6ft2 tricky winger/striker. 21 and from south London.

This is why I’ve set up the rumour catchup thread. It’s just the rumours from the original sources, with no comments. Check on my profile

Wouldn't mind us going for Nathan Lowe at Stoke, looked unreal at Walsall first half of the season.

We definitly need a better more experienced keeper - would Lukas Fabianski be interested ? stays in London and easily good enough at Champs level.

Keillor-Dunn would be a great signing for creativity in midfield - one of the best seen at the valley this season.

Sonny Bradley from Wycombe would be great at CB

Up front still think we miss a target striker - What about Carlton Morris of Luton - Jones must know him and good at Champs level.

Just think its time to buy champs experience or ex premier league players as its a big step up this time.

When you consider that Birmingham and Wrexham will in no way be in a relegation battle next season, we will have to get more points than 3 established Championship teams. Massive task ahead.
We’ll see about Wrexham, they might have some Financial Fair Play challenges and shipping out some of their dead wood will be hard given the contracts they’re on.
They generate an insane amount in commercial income & that’s only going to go up. I reckon they are the club least impacted by FFP because of that! As commercial income counts. They dwarf everyone else in that sense.
They generate a lot more than us, but their revenue (according to most recent accounts published) wasn’t even the highest in League One (Birmingham) and miles lower than the very big clubs in the Championship (Leeds most recent published accounts showed revenue about five times higher than Wrexham).

The revenue raised by Wrexham made them a big fish in the National League & Leagues One & Two but they are now swimming with some very big fish financially and certainly don’t “dwarf” the rest of the division.

Leeds United are a genuine big club though. They have a national & even national supporter base. I put them in the same bracket as likes of Aston Villa, Newcastle and Everton.

Interesting re Birmingham City. They are a regional big club though.

Championship exposure will allow Wrexham to get far bigger sponsorship than all the clubs now in Championship imo. My point was though, they will not need to worry about FFP. That is not something that will hold them back. It does hold back clubs that ‘only’ average 20,000 odd when trying to compete with parachute payment clubs. Wrexham can get around that if someone global brand want to pay them £10m for a sponsorship deal.

Always have to remember that accounts are for previous seasons, so those revenues were L2 revenues not L1. I don't think they'll get near the level of revenue that the top Champ clubs do but they have big sponsors who will pay more money. The big questions for me are a) will they get more investment and b) what happens to those sponsors once they stopped getting promoted and lose some of the novelty

Just listened to NJs interview on Charlton Live, he talked about there being a lot of work to do, needing more athleticism and Championship experience, so expect to see a few older players come in. Definitely need more pace in the team too, so we’ll probably see a balance of younger and older signings.

I know, that’s exactly why Wrexham won’t “dwarf” everyone in the Championship from a revenue perspective. I think they’ll have more issues with FFP than you anticipate and won’t be able to just outspend the rest of the league.

If we were still in League 1, I was going to go with Thierry Small's Cousin Ethon Archer who is an attacking midfielder at Cheltenham and has pace.
Scored 7 with a similar amount of assists but now we are a Championship side 👏🏼 it might be too much of a step up.

    I will keep searching 😃
