Now they've got their new ownership I don't think they'll be losing their players on the cheap anymore. We should've gone after him and Smith (again) in the January window when the other nutcase was still asleep at the wheel!Braziliance said:

Getting 2M for Smith definitely wasn’t losing him on the cheap. Football fees are just getting far too big these days. All for spending money but I’d rather chuck a couple hundred thousand and a good wage on a very good free agent like an Odoffin to guarantee his signature then spend 1-2M to get a player of equal qualityNow they've got their new ownership I don't think they'll be losing their players on the cheap anymore. Andy Woodman's goalkeeper son Freddie has been released by Preston (as has Paddy Bauer)
A player I really like (might have suffered nasty injury though), Murray Wallace has been released by Millwall .. Woodman is 28, Wallace32, the later as a versatile, VERY good defender would be a perfect squad member covering central and left sided defence
In fact there is a host of 30 somethings now 'on the market' after being released from Champ clubs.
I don't go for the 'too old' theory. Look at Godden and Berry and the integral parts they played for us this season (with 1 game to go)0 -

Woodman is going to Man United as a 3rd choice keeper. Also doubt arguably a Millwall legend will join us as it won’t go down well with either fanbase. Interesting how football changes because 50 years ago the biggest Millwall legend of them all Harry Cripps was an integral part of a Charlton promotion squad.Crispywood said:

Doubt he would have the physicality and relentlessness of a Jones player even if he was in our price range though.2 -

JRS feels like a Southampton signing. Don't have many options wide , think Palace will want a rather significant fee.3

'Lightweight' is becoming the go-to criticism of players by people who don't actually know what it is about the player they don't like. It's effective because it covers every possible assumed failing without actually having to explain it or think about it. Gilbert? Lightweight. Berry? Lightweight. Coventry? Lightweight. This season I'm sure I've seen Gillesphey, Small, Campbell, Godden and Docherty referred to that way as well. It's absolutely meaningless.9

The rivalry isn’t hate filled enough for it to be a problem… as demonstrated by all the examples mentioned. Millwall would have been very happy to employ Curbs in his prime post Charlton. They took Seed, after all, the man that turned Charlton from Third Division (South) strugglers into title contenders.Richard J said:

Zero chance of us getting JRS back even in the Championship, Palace will want £5-10m for him and no chance of us spending that on a player.4

For context a 27 year old Sam Smith went to Wrexham for £2m, only ever played below the Championship.
JRS is 22, ripped up league one as a teenager and did okay in the Championship in his first season there, signifacantly higher ceiling than Smith and already a better player despite being 5 years younger.
Easily be £5m+ for JRS.8
