Pubs are virtually non-existent, and as you say, absolutely shocking!Somewhere like this is very typical, basically a restaurant with a few tv's showing the football.Out here people tend to go out as families rather than groups of geezers going out and getting a drink down them.

Just seen the Who'd Thought in Timbercroft lane going the same way as the White Swan. Developers want to reduce the size of the pub to build 6 flats on the site. Then next they will claim the the reduced pub not economic so let's knock it down.0

Been past a couple of times last week and seems to have been fitted out as, yet another, barbers/hairdressers.Curb_It said:Sad to see the Plum Tree close, did you see that news Inspector? I thought it was doing well as always people in when we passed by. But they took on the shop next door to turn in to a deli and I think financially it was too much. A shame really.0 -

I can see the people living there will be happy with the arrangements.

Hope our promotion will help rescue some of the currently derelict pubs in Charlton (White Swan, Pickwick, Anchor and Hope)... loved all 3 of those pubs in their prime
and if crowds (presumably!) improve next season, just the RoD, Bugle and Oak is not sufficient to cope with demand - hopefully somebody is willing to invest in that in the hope of it being a long-term opportunity after the last 16 years of suppression by L1 football3 -
Anyone know why the Plough and Harrow, Welling, is temporarily closed?0

The Trafalgar Tavern in Greenwich has got to remove all the outside seating on instructions of the council.Work has started at the Anchor.2

Is it not just the seating that curved round the river path? Pretty sure their garden can stay.Baldybonce said:The Trafalgar Tavern in Greenwich has got to remove all the outside seating on instructions of the council.Work has started at the Anchor.
I think they were taking the piss a bit anyway though and the prices are an absolute joke - £8.40 for a neck oil1 -
I leave the Trafalgar to the tourists. Would much prefer to walk 10 minutes to the Pelts.8

I would think they could keep the square outside the entrance but not that on the path.Leeds_Addick said:

Dartford folk on here will know the Welsh Tavern in Stone. Empty and boarded up for a few years. Badly damaged by fire yesterday evening.0

Why do so many old pubs suffer from fires? Is there a specific insurance term or clause in a lease that becomes relevant or voided?
Edit to add link that i can't access from current network- https://www.reddit.com/r/britishproblems/comments/15jp9l2/seeing_a_historic_pub_mysteriously_burn_down/0 -
