You've not thought this through...
In your first paragraph you talk about peak fares & people working shifts. That is also true for the new Blackwall Tunnel charge where people working late shifts will be charged differently to those working "days". But that's not my point. My point is that people working the same shifts are being charged differently just because of where they live.
Would you think it's fair if only people commutimg into London from Dartford on SouthEastern trains were charged peak fares & those travelling into London from Essex on C2C were charged off peak, even though they were travelling in at the same time.
Perhaps it is me after all 🤷♂️.
Peak time happens twice a day. Going north in the morning & south in the evenings.
Makes no sense.
Its got nothing to do with the amount of traffic.
There will now be a charge for using the Blackwall Tunnel. The charge is increased at peak times.......FOR TRAVEL IN ONE DIRECTION ONLY.
I give up. I suspect I'm being trolled so this will be my last say on the matter.3 -

Are you aware of how cities work? What do you propose, nobody lives in the corridor where the tunnel exists? It just routes through wasteland and drops you right at your office door? London has the best public transport system possibly on Earth, given the complexity of operating it - and until recently, had a shocking record of pollution related deaths and illnesses amongst the poorer population who are forced to live next to its polluted roads. Single occupancy cars are a convenience that a city with a joined up public transport system like London shouldn't have to support any longer - the roads should be free for people who actually need to use them - tradesmen, delivery drivers, the emergency services - and buses to carry 80 people using the same space as two cars.golfaddick said:

Well I've been banging on about it for months on here. I've spoken to my MP and he said not his problem as its TFL so speak to your London Assembly member. So I did. He said they have been trying to get discounts for people living in Bexley & Bromley but to no avail.tallboy said:

so you agree as the above applies to me. I went to see a client today in Wanstead. A GP no less. It wasn't a day out or a jolly....I was working. And I wasn't "going into London" so should pay a premium on my "ticket price" like commuters going to work in the City. The vast majority of people who live in London use public transport for work. Not sure what world you live in, but in mine Wanstead is on the central line, has various other railway stations and railway bridges over the Thames have existed for nearly 2 centuries, no need to swim.golfaddick said:

Details of some new and free buses in there that go through the new tunnel. Large HGV's will be allowed to use the Bus Lane, there are height restrictions on the Blackwall Tunnel, this could well increase the number HGV's using the crossing who at present use the Woolwich Ferry, which in turn will Increase pollution in Greenwich. This being the first week of half term, traffic would be less than normal, so it will not be for another 3 weeks before true usage will be seen.0
