It's discriminatory to implement a congestion charge in one direction (the congested one) because people who travel in that direction are going to be charged, whilst people who travel in the opposite (uncongested) one aren't.
Do you hear yourself? 🤣
If all you are trying to do is reduce the congestion then perhaps it might be better to get rid of the road completely & make people walk !!
You've not thought this through...
In your first paragraph you talk about peak fares & people working shifts. That is also true for the new Blackwall Tunnel charge where people working late shifts will be charged differently to those working "days". But that's not my point. My point is that people working the same shifts are being charged differently just because of where they live.
Would you think it's fair if only people commutimg into London from Dartford on SouthEastern trains were charged peak fares & those travelling into London from Essex on C2C were charged off peak, even though they were travelling in at the same time.
Perhaps it is me after all 🤷♂️.
Peak time happens twice a day. Going north in the morning & south in the evenings.
Makes no sense.
Its got nothing to do with the amount of traffic.
There will now be a charge for using the Blackwall Tunnel. The charge is increased at peak times.......FOR TRAVEL IN ONE DIRECTION ONLY.
I give up. I suspect I'm being trolled so this will be my last say on the matter.3 -
I read that the S4 super loop bus is due to start running on April 7th.
A boost for those of us living in Lee.0 -

What do you mean....." deter people from using the tunnel who do so for convenience" ? What a stupid statement. The tunnel is there to use. Its not a convenience its a necessity. I used it today to get from Bromley to Wansted. How use I am supposed to get there.....swim ???.
As for it being an inconvenience of those living near it.......either move or put up with it. I expect it was there before you moved into the area.6 -
Leroy Ambrose said:valleynick66 said:It’s almost as if most people aren’t eligible who use the tunnel 😡We also haven’t built it to reduce usage. We’ve built it ease congestion for 2 defined routes. You’ll still enter it from broadly the same area on our side of the river won’t you?1

Still think the peak time charge is discriminatory. Only affects those people living south of the Thames. And hasn't been picked up by the media who just mention that there are extra costs at peak times. They even mention the peak time charge is both Southbound & Northbound but never go on to say that it's only Northbound in the mornings and only Southbound in the afternoon/ evening.

Fuck me, you got off a driving ban? What for? No, don't tell me - you were unlucky enough to be caught going 41 in a 40 on four separate occasions, your speedo was faulty but the officer wouldn't hear it, they're all little Hitlers just collecting money for the police Christmas party and you were only on the way to see a sick relative all four times anyway and why should you be punished for going over the limit it was only a little bit and it's not fair motorists are unfairly targeted why do we even pay road tax wah wah wah....
With every post you make I'm even more convinced you're a windup.4 -

He owns a car, and there are roads that go places he wants to go.Why on earth would you take public transport in that situation, unless it was more convenient to do so?4 -

I wouldn't say we have the best public transport in the Europe, let alone the world, but if we did people would still prefer to use their car when it isn't necessary.5 -
Only realised today that there's only one lane each way for regular traffic as the other is a bus lane.0

- New buses: 129 (Lewisham to North Greenwich) now runs through the tunnel to London City Airport, Beckton and Great Eastern Quay. New SL4 runs from Grove Park, Lee and Blackheath, then non-stop through the tunnel to Leamouth and Canary Wharf. Travel on Silvertown Tunnel routes is free for at least the first year (tap your Oyster/contactless), which also applies to the entire 108 route and DLR services between Cutty Sark-Island Gardens and King George V-Woolwich Arsenal.

Large HGV's will be allowed to use the Bus Lane, there are height restrictions on the Blackwall Tunnel, this could well increase the number HGV's using the crossing who at present use the Woolwich Ferry, which in turn will Increase pollution in Greenwich. This being the first week of half term, traffic would be less than normal, so it will not be for another 3 weeks before true usage will be seen.0
