Barnsley arrived at the Valley with an excellent away record to put up against Charlton’s equally impressive home form. The visitors started very brightly and the Addicks needed all of their defensive focus to blunt the Barnsley attack. Tyreece Campbell, himself in fine form, was the Addicks’ most potent outlet. His work probing down the left caused Barnsley problems and helped relieve much of that early pressure. Thierry Small and Kayne Ramsay’s work down the right also paid dividends, though as much trouble as they caused Barnsley, they couldn’t find the ultimate reward. But it was the unlikely Macauley Gillesphey that opened the scoring, extending his own goal scoring run and putting Charlton ahead. His free kick from twenty yards skipped along the ground, under the leaping wall, and nestled itself just inside the post. The Barnsley keeper seemed to have overleapt the ball and found himself guilty of a breach he probably should have stopped. The Addicks were one nil to the good and Barnsley’s early pressure was nullified.
Barnsley made a number of changes early in the second half and that seemed to stem their attacking impetus somewhat. For all of their movement and slick passing, they never really troubled Charlton enough, through they certainly did enough to keep my anxious throughout. Charlton had their own chances, falling to Luke Berry, and later, substitute Miles Leaburn, which, on another night, may have fell more kindly for them.
One goal was enough for the Addicks win though, thankfully. What could have been a tricky fixture in a congested part of the season went our way. Three more points and another place up the league table means we’re happy campers again as our fine run of results continues.

Could have easily have been 2-0 with Coventry’s chance.
Superb team performance. I’m also massively impressed with the way we dealt with Barnsley getting on top, and completely nullified DKD second half. Jones is a quality manager and tactical coach.
Coventry was immense, Doc good. Both wingers exciting and kept going. Ramsey his usual self and Mannion solid.
But MG and Matty Godden were my stand outs. Absolutely brilliant.
And Lloyd Jones must have ‘mitre’ tattooed on his head the amount of headers that bloke wins.
Brilliant

Charltons last three crucial goals have all come from set peices, take a bow James Brayne, Charltons set peice coach 🙇🏻

Not at out best but brilliant game management 3 points to keep the pressure on those around us. On to Stockport 3 points there and we mean business7
-
Another great win
Barnsley were excellent 1st half but our resilience won us the game
...that and Gillespheys strike

Good win, not as spectacular or euphoric as Saturday but all that really matters is 3 points now.
We killed off Orient’s season on Saturday and killed off Barnsley tonight, one more victim and we’ll be a serial killer!

Didnt enjoy that match tonight!!Made hard work of it, Barnsley did well to pressure us for about 60mins, but we were a bit sluggish again which is similar to Saturday - One of those games, one of those performances where you look back at the end of the season and see it as the type of performance that wins you promotion.Huge game now at Stockport on Saturday, dont even need to win it to go above them, provided we draw and beat Crawley with our game in hand next Tuesday - Still looking beyond, as dont think 2nd is out of complete reach given the form that we're in. A win on Saturday will really cement that belief.Oh great job Northampton, and Special Agent: Terry Taylor26

Also, have to say well done to Jones for keeping the players feet on the ground after Saturday's high.
His management has been superb for the last 3 months.53 -
Massive win after the rollercoaster that was Saturday. There's something special about this team. They know how to win.

Not a classic but fantastic three points, a word on Aneke, love him, a cult hero, but his decline is quite alarming, in the past you knew he would always make an impact from the bench, but now he just looks like Bambi on ice, sad to see27

That is one of the biggest keeping howlers I’ve seen for a long time. Chocolate wrists6

Not our best but we were playing a good Barnsley side. They have some very good footballers but lacked a bit of cutting edge.
Sign of a good side is to grind out a win and that's what it was. Keeps building that momentum.
Ref was shite. Definitely couldn't accuse him of being a homer. Up The Addicks!

Just to add, that was incredibly unenjoyable.
Years of being unable to see these games out have really conditioned me to expect the worst18 -
It really is a dreadful shame, I’m sure lots of people were thinking the same thing at the same time tonight.IR94 said:Not a classic but fantastic three points, a word on Aneke, love him, a cult hero, but his decline is quite alarming, in the past you knew he would always make an impact from the bench, but now he just looks like Bambi on ice, sad to see

Some of that wasn't pretty, but we take 3 points however they come, especially against teams in and around the playoff hunt2

Brilliant without the ball.15

I’m assuming TC just had cramp at the end but he did pull up a bit before he went off. Hope he is ok because he is a big part of our current form. Also was it just me of did the referee find himself in the way of the ball on several (too many) occasions tonight?1

Important night. Makes it a fair bit harder for Barnsley and Orient to be in the play off contenders pack (or POCP as we should call them).1

No yellow for Coventry, great32

Unfortunately I dont see Saturday being anymore enjoyable, although if we play against Stockport like we did against them at the Valley (just with better finishing), I'd be confident of 3-ptsLittleAddick said:Just to add, that was incredibly unenjoyable.

The incredible run continues.
Dare we dream of top 2??6 -
Sorry for those that pay to watch but I can see many of the last games will be like tonight.
Three points is all that matters now9 -
Not the best performance, but a win is a win3
-
I thought Keillor-Dunn looked very lively - seemed like a championship-quality player to me. Despite that, Jones and co kept him at bay really well.17
-
Clean sheet and 3 points against an in form playoff rival.
Jonesey will be pleased - and so should we.

Tough watch. Barnsley were very lively first half and our goal came after we'd been under the cosh a little. We defended well, but the first half I felt they shaded. But the second half we looked better and could have scored a couple. The Tykes looked dangerous but nothing much materialised, and overall, the win was deserved. And it feels great.6
