We were not at our best against a decent enough Barnsley side - yet we had the majority of the better chances and never really looked troubled.

Who would have thought being able to defend and keep clean sheets would win you games.

Clean sheet and 3 points against an in form playoff rival.

Jonesey will be pleased - and so should we.

Three clean sheets away from equalling 2018/19 - Five away from equalling 2011/12 now

We got our goal early, which helped, and after conceding a lot of ground in the first half, I thought Chalton were in total control in the second 45. Yeah it wasn't the beautiful game but it's about getting the points now, however we do it. Last triple header we had, we fell short at Birmingham, let's hope the lads can recover for Saturdays trip and give us a chance of maximum points this time.

Felt nervous about this one and Barnsley are pretty decent. Great three points without playing really well. We look like a proper team now. We have a style of playing and we have not had that for a few years. TC is developing into such a good player. Shame Miles couldn't finish his chance. On to Stockport. A win there is very possible I think. UTA. Get in !!

How about we call this (the form one above) the League table, everyone call it quits and we go up as Champions?

Sorry for those that pay to watch but I can see many of the last games will be like tonight.
Three points is all that matters now
If it results in 3 points I would pay to watch all the remaining games being like tonight mate. At the back end of the season when we are in the position we are 3 points is all that matters

After all the emotion of Saturday, coming up against a team who are in form and very good away from home, that is a fantastic win. Win on Saturday and we’re right up there in the race for second

Miles can make up for it on Saturday 👍
  • Poor game but we got a win. Barnsley looked pretty good and it was a frustrating game to watch.

    We win playing ugly...

I’m assuming TC just had cramp at the end but he did pull up a bit before he went off. Hope he is ok because he is a big part of  our current form.

Also was it just me of did the referee find himself in the way of the ball on several (too many) occasions tonight?

He was holding his hamstring when he came off and I don’t think he was on the pitch after the game .
I hope you a right and it’s cramp

Nullified Barnsley in the second half, although I suspect their fans will be saying the wholesale changes they made disrupted them more than we did.

    Solid ugly win.

Slight concern that certain players look like they are running on empty. Perhaps time to start rotating and using the squad. High energy pressure is fundamental to our game plan at the moment and it felt like (at times) this evening we didn't have the legs to execute it.

Not pretty but at least second half we dealt better with Keilor-Dunn. Thought Jones and Coventry were outstanding but, and fair play to him, Gillesphey was immense. He's really stepped it up the last eight games or so. We came through a really tricky game, with ten away wins they are no mugs, and got the three points and at the end of the day that's all that matters.

I think nabbing second spot is too much of an ask but not impossible. No one will fancy playing us in the play offs that's for sure.

Looking forward to watching the game on Saturday already. COYA

Success so often built on 1-0 wins. We were relentless rather than pretty but the three points are in the bag.

Expected us to sub Tupac ❤️ a bit earlier - that’s two matches in a row where he’s been struggling with his thigh at the end. I need to trust in Dr Will and NJ that we aren’t over- exerting him as he is so important to us.

Not sure what Jones was thinking when he ducked under that long throw ?. Apart from that he was excellent and seemed have free range as to where he played in the second half .

Agreed, I would have subbed him earlier too. Assuming he's not injured, it might be a good idea to bench him for one of the games next week, as we don't want to burn him out

Don't think we were as average as people make out. Could have won 3/4-0 if Berry had his shooting boots on and Leaburn tucked his chance away.

Personally thought Barnsley were pretty shite. Good result though. Onwards and upwards!

The week after looks a bit tasty too with Hudds v Wycombe and Wrexham v Stockport - there's still a lot of football to be played til the end of the season so who knows all we can do is keep winning games and putting pressure on the teams above!

Saturday was a much better game, but this was a typical victory you have to grind out in a promotion campaign.

I thought Barnsley were the better team in the first half, without creating anything significant. In the second half, other than one shot which went narrowly wide, they rather petered out. Lloyd Jones was imperious out there

Slightly curious to bring on McIntyre in midfield instead of Gilbert, as Gilbert showed some good defensive work on Saturday.
