Team never knows when to give up COYR what a cracking day .4

What an end to the game! I’m not sure how to best articulate it, but this team is what I’d call “proper Charlton”. Leaders and fighters all over the pitch, giving it everything for 90+ minutes.
We will still need a bit of luck with injuries and suspensions, but we’re the second best team in the league right now and the play-offs are well and truly in our hands. If anyone wants to watch the last few minutes of the game: https://youtu.be/tmFhOcCTthQ?si=9RtvQrGCgMrAx51j7 -

What's the new song to the tune of Sway?
I heard "Tyreece Campbell running down the wing, scoring goals, make the Charlton sing" but what's the first part?0 -

Talking of TC, he pulled up near the end and was holding his hamstring. We scored after and he did a bit of a knee slide in the celebrations so hopefully he is ok.1

I haven't read all of this, but what got me today was seeing the team not being simply relieved to equalise, but wanting still, so late in the game, to go after the win. It was palpable.16

Watched on Charlton TV, as the saying goes, its never over till the fat lady sings!
Could well be one of those season defining games.
Just had a quick scoot through the last half a dozen or so pages from the match thread, nearly as entertaining as the last few minutes of the actual game!0 -

What. A. Day.Great fun in Kapture pre match learning the words to the new Tyreece song. And sharing an enormous cheese platter.Through a right old creaky turnstile into a very old-fashioned ground (two ladies cubicles).Seats right behind a couple of the lovely German Addicks. Pillar in the way but at least it only obscured the middle of the pitch. Very glad I had sunglasses. Should have been winning by halftime but instead they go one up early in second. Pratley may be a prat but he dominated midfield. How long since we stupidly let him go?
Starting to think it wouldn’t be our day. No scoreboard to show how long left. Get to 90 then Gilbert’s corners take over. Fantastic scenes. Loved being part of it.One of the best ever away days. So glad I was there.30 -

i also noticed TC holding his thigh and chatting to the physio after the final whistle- do hope nothing serious but would expect he’ll miss Tuesday.2 -

Thought Charlton's two wide players the number 7 and the 25 (who was a huge unit) looked really decent. The keeper looked good too. But the rest of them I thought were very poor. They are just a real hoofball team full of huge physical players - a bit like watching Wimbledon in the late 70s. And the celebrations at the end were absolutely nauseating. You'd have thought they had won the F A Cup and the Champions league rolled into one instead of a match between two teams who were 8th and 9th in League One.

The scenes in that away end after both goals were absolutely biblical. The sort of carnage we haven’t had the pleasure of enjoying in quite a while.4

So glad I was there today. One of those aways that make it all worthwhile.
One of those you never forget and grow bigger over time.
Dominated the first half and should have gone in with the lead. Frustratingly inept with our final ball at times, wrong choices and sometimes we just didn't get the rub of the green.
But we restricted them to virtually nothing.
They came out second half like they meant business. They have some real quality going forward.
The control, composure and strike for their goal was impressive.
We were labouring for a while and the subs Nathan made were a punt to rescue something.
In games like this, as we approach the end of normal time, the times I have turned to my son and said this ain't happening.
It's sound easy to say now, but I just sensed today that we could pull something off. It wasn't just me, my son said as much while I was thinking it. It wouldn't surprise me if a lot more felt the same.
There is a resilience about us. A drive. A belief. A momentum.
The smiles on the players faces as they rushed to celebrate with us at the end.
What a contrast to earlier in the season.
This is fcuking happening.

Just to add, Alex Gilbert's corner delivery is a thing of beauty.
A beautifully curved inswinger that fools the goalkeeper into leaving until that deadly curve at the end brings it into the far side of the six yard box.
When we are not royally fucking them up or hitting the first man, we do sometimes hit it beyond the far post, but usually on a straight trajectory or a ballooned hit for the likes of Jonesy to head back into the danger area.
Gilbert has now got 3 assists from his corners. A proper potent weapon.
Edit: Inswinger of course, not outswinger15 -

ForeverAddickted said:One aspect I'll disagree with, from the Post-Match comments is the subs that people are praising Jones for.
Apart from Gilbert and maybe Docherty, I thought they were the type you make when you're desperate and just go for it - Taking Edwards, and especially Coventry off messed up with our shape a bit, and barely noticed Aneke / Leaburn0
