The problem I feel is that what we need probably isn’t available to us. To really make our team tick in the style Jones wants is a creative ball playing CAM, who has pace, power and energy to high press the opposition with the ability to score a goal. It doesn’t sound like a league one player. 😂.
Funnily enough, the closest I’ve seen against us in recent years to fit that mould is Pan Camara.
If we’re only signing a couple of players, priority no. 1 is an central attacking midfielder who is an upgrade on Berry, i.e., is more creative in their passing and adds a bit more energy and aggression as well as least the same goal threat that Berry offers. Priority no. 2 is another pacey wide player who can be rotated with/cover TC and Small and reduce the pressure on them to play the full 90 minutes every game.
My thoughts on Moxon are he is not good enough for the champ, if he can't get in pompeys team and they are doing as they are, then he's not good enough for the aspirations we have, simple as.
Pacey winger and a quality 10. Good luck finding them with £12.50
We can spend as much money as the owners want to put in. 7 days in which they can show their ambition.......or they can spend next season losing another £10m. Their choice.
Contacted that AllthingsPNE account on Twitter about the source for the Small story. Got a civil answer, conceding its only Nixon. Obviously just an enthusiastic decent fan. So I’m 90% certain its Nixon’s usual “journalism”: trawl fan sites and make up plausible tweets. It pays the bills.
Which isn’t to say I won’t be nervously waiting for tomorrow’s team news and seeing Thierry on full throttle.

Probably more likely to be agent talk. Often happens while negotiating a new contract so probably his agent trying to get us to bump up our offer
Hey if it means having to do biz this way to bring in a decent player then I'm all for it. Fed up with the mediocre signings of recent times which are always a waste of money.
The midfield is lacking someone who can break down a defence with a killer pass. Is Moxon that individual?
I wouldn't have said so personally, he'd be more of an upgrade (hopefully!) or replacement for Campbell who can hopefully then be sent back and never mentioned again.
If we bring in a midfield player they ought to be clearly better than 20 year old Harvey Kedwell, or 17 year old Ibrahim Fullah. Or Ryan Huke or Kai Enslin.
Pompey have been playing Marlon Pack at CB , but have just announced an Aussie CB , could free up Pack to go back into Midfield and allow us to sign Moxon.
I do find it strange that Enslin hasn't been included on the bench for a league game, he did so well in the trophy game and we currently have no wide options on the bench. Weird.

Think (like Dixon) it must be a mixture of physicality and a plan to not overwhelm youth players with too much too soon. Like Josh Laq and Dixon he has travelled with the squad to away games a couple of times, been involved where possible and then dropped back into the U21s. Feels like a pattern that suggests a plan to me
Back to square one on championship midfielders then... Marcus Mcguane would be another Doc/Cov competition signing not a Berry replacement. If it's a permanent it's got to be someone that's nowhere near a starting 11.

Other positions can wait until the summer.
