I'd be buzzing with McGuane, one of the best players I saw against us last season, absolutely class.
Every one looked good against us last season. January singings for us , are either cripples or should be claiming a pension. That is how it has been for the last 4 or 5 seasons.
Are Ramsay and small cripples or claiming a pension?
My boss is a PNE fan and he’s text me saying he’s heard Small to them is pretty close.
Hope it’s not true but only passing on what he’s heard
He'll be close to Preston in a few days time as we're playing Blackpool. If the players go up by train, they might even change trains at Preston station
Big mistake for Small if he doesn't renew IMO. First club he has settled in, has a great relationship with the fans and manager and is progressing week on week. Would hope he looks at the big picture and not the immediate attraction of playing in the league above.
Blackett-Taylor is a great example of sticking where you're happy rather than chasing the money.
Looks like he started to make a name for himself at Charlton, after a few bad decisions early in his career, now he's back to struggling for game time.
Wouldnt be surprised if the same misfortune befell Small if he decided to move on.
Grass isn't always greener
I assume CBT got a tidy pay increase at Derby and moved closer to home. So his game time has suffered but I wonder if he would make a different decision if given the same opportunity again.
I think Small just needs to settle somewhere. I can completely understand there being Championship interest but it feels like he's been badly advised in the past and jumping for the move perhaps isn't the best move.
It's all a rumour. Someone heard a journalist ask Small if he would be on the move in this window. As he got in his car, Small replied, "I'm off home. Speak later, I'm pressed on time". Being a windy day, the journalist thought he said, "I'm off to Preston".
Update on Jellis, not too much was given away other than, yes there was interest, price discussed but walsalls valuation wasn't met ( they don't want to sell ) and that Jellis himself is settled but does have ambitions to play higher.
Sounds to me like our interest has cooled but maybe we will revisit later

You've made the mistake thinking that Alan Nixon is a journalist
If Small does move to Preston, I hope he takes the time to visit the National Railway Museum in York once he’s settled. Only 5 mins down the road and one of the benefits of moving to Preston

I'm confused (not difficult) we have Edwards at LB, surely Ramsay can play RB which then frees up Small to move on, which would be a pity
That is true... But then we're relying on Tennai Watson as backup for both full back slots, who has been in less match day squads than Chuks Aneke this season.
Plus Watson isnt a natural Left-Back and is out of contract himself in the summer and likely to move on himself - So in reality we'd have no one as cover if Edwards got injured again.

It’s something we’ll have to negotiate over the summer if Small sees out his contract and moves anyway.

I'd rather do it over the Summer though where we've got three / four months, rather than just a handful of days though
Our recent run and improved league position have presumably made us a much more attractive proposition for a midfielder looking for a new club/challenge. Really hoping we can sign the right sort of player to give our playoff push even more impetus. The season is still alive!

Even more so if we can win on Tuesday night v Bristol Rovers. Shame it's a full round of games and not our game in hand but another win could still maybe close the gap even further especially as 6th placed Barnsley are away to Wycombe we could really be in the mix for 5th-6th with 3 days of the transfer window left too could really help with any potential signings.

A big clue is if we don't buy him a return ticket.

Small isn't playing RB or even a conventional Right Wing Back role though. Most of the game he's playing as an inverted winger, though with more defensive duties than Campbell on the left.

Especially as we've let Tayo Edun go

Mr Small looks happy in red...'nuff said...😉
