If we have money to spend then we should definitely be offering to match the £500k that Birmingham paid in the summer for Marc Leonard…to take him off their hands.
Cant get in the team at Brum but would be perfect as the man to pull the strings in our side.
I don't disagree but I imagine the wages he is now on will be out of budget.
I am completely mystified by those on here who keep on saying we should be getting another keeper NJ has woken up to the fact that AMB is better than both Isted ( completely useless) and now Mannion The only weakness in his game is distribution but as a keeper who saves goals he is very good. So long as the defence in front of him remains solid he is a perfectly good keeper at this level and I would argue / Championship too - if we ever get there !!!!
Mystified Apart from stays on his line, flaps on crosses and gets pushed around too easily on set pieces...
I think the criticism about AMB's faults should be aimed at the goal keeping coach, surely it is his job to improve the keepers.
A coach can improve technically a players abilities, not his character.
If a player is bone idle, there's no way a coach can change that. (I am emphatically NOT saying that about AMB!)
The coming out to claim crosses, one of the important factors is bravery. Again, I'm not saying AMB is cowardly, but the number of broken noses/concussions he's suffered has probably dented his confidence.
One of our best all round 'keepers we've had in recent years was Ben Amos. Decent shot stopper, and, crucially, very brave. He came and claimed crosses when there were heads, boots, elbows flying around.
The effect of that was the defenders in front of him had much more confidence in him.
The result? There was a period when we had Inniss and Famwe in front of him when we went something like 9 hours without conceding a goal.
It was a shame he wanted to return back to his roots up North.
The amount of head injuries AMB has had doesn’t suggest bravery is an issue, he throws himself where he can get hurt.
I think that’s different to confidence to come and claim crosses, he’s never been that type of GK. Some naturally do it, and some GKs are 6 ft 5+ plus which makes it easier.
Again, though, it's not just height...
Who was the keeper we had last year that played in the LVPM Cup games? He was enormous! Even bigger than Miles, but hardly ever caught a cross. Always came and punched. (Usually feebly!)
I remember one game where he actually caught the ball, and the ironic cheers from the Charlton fans could be heard in Gillingham!
Never said it was just height, I said it's easier for those huge GKs. Of course there will be huge GKs who still don't do it, despite their height.

They’ve got injuries so no chance. He will be starting tonight I think
I don’t think a keeper will come in this window. Mannion good in the air and commands the box and AWB is a good shot stopper . A decent keeper between them
I'd expect the midfielder to be signed and announced before the meeting tonight and then some hints from NJ and the SMT that " more deals are in the works"

He has started and played 90mins the last three games. 21 appearances this season. Get a grip mr idiot

Not really any need for the end of that comment is there?

Wasn’t aware Brum had injuries & he had began to start games (believe the majority of the 21 games you mention have been short sub & EFL trophy appearances)

LOL. I’ve been called a lot worse than Mr.Idiot tbf!
Terry Taylor has started more league one games for Charlton than Marc Leonard has for Birmingham this season….& TT obviously moved to get more playing time.
It’s not unthinkable that Leonard will do the same if Birmingham’s first choice midfielders are close to coming back from injury.
I wanted Leonard in the summer and wouldn’t be at all opposed to it now. But I don’t think Birmingham let him go - not until this upcoming summer when they will probably sign another 20 players and the likes of Leonard, May, etc. probably become available.

Don't think they'd sell him in January - hasn't been an automatic starter but is a useful squad player.
If they go up could see him being sold in the summer though.
I think the reality is that a CAM of decent pedigree will be hard to come by in this window. Just thinking back to last Jan when Collins was reportedly sold for 1m+. Do we have those funds and do the club consider it worthwhile to spend that in January to supersede/challenge what was meant to be one of our statement signings over the summer.
I know NJ is against them but it’s a position where I’d be tempted to see if there’s someone in a PL academy who might be able to come in. They would likely have legs and technical ability at the very least. Harvey Vale is the name that stands out to me

Harvey Vale would be a very good option. Can play LWB and Left wing too. Would bring real versatility.

He’s also not wanted at Chelsea so could even be a permanent option. No idea on how much he would cost or his contract situation though
Depends why it didnt work out at Bristol Rovers last season.
Vale is the type of U21 (individual who looks to have to build his career from the lower reaches of the EFL) that we absolutely should be at least scouting... We've missed out on too many released Academy gems.

A Birmingham fan discussed Leonard being one who could be on the move in this article a couple of days ago:

any add ons or cash due to us?

I think I'd rather be called a silly old goat, politely off course👍
